A popular rapper appeared at "Waterbomb Festival 2022" in Seoul. What made it a big surprise to the audience is because he is currently in the middle of his mandatory military service. Read on to find out who the Hip Hop artist is.

"Waterbomb Festival," which is one of the highly-anticipated Korean music festivals, returned this year after missing two editions because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event took place at the Jamsil Sports Complexfor three consecutive days, from June 24 to 26.

Throughout the three-day show, the audience was treated to performances of some of the biggest Korean music acts, such as CL, WINNER, Sunmi, Jessi, EXO Kai, (G)I-DLE, Jay Park, Chungha, MAMAMOO HWASA, Zico, BIBI, and more.

Other singers and rappers like Simon Dominic, Loco, DPR LIVE, and ASH ISLAND, as well as renowned dance crews HOLYBANG and LA CHICA, performed at the "Waterbomb Festival 2022" in Seoul.

What caught the audience's attention the most was the surprise appearance of Changmo, who is currently serving in the military!

On June 24, he performed his hit song "Meteor," marking his first face-to-face performance after a long time.

In the middle of his number, the Korean rapper asked the audience, "Please don't report me because I'm not doing anything illegal," explaining that he was performing without receiving any money in return.

The reason for his explanation is that generating profits and engaging in any entertainment activities while serving in the military is prohibited.

Also, Changmo told the audience, "Everyone, I endured not performing for three years." He added that he desperately wanted to stand on stage again.

Even though the male K-pop idol released his second studio album "Underground Rockstar" before his military enlistment, he expressed his regret that he had to complete his military service without performing first due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Changmo was on a military vacation on the 24th, and so he grabbed the chance to perform live at the "Waterbomb Festival 2022" for free.

The Korean rapper enlisted on March 14 this year and will be discharged from the military on Sept. 13, 2023.

Changmo's Activities Prior to Military Enlistment

As mentioned above, Changmo dropped his second full-length album "Underground Rockstar" in November of last year. The album contains a total of 11 songs including the title track "TAIJI."

"Underground Rockstar" was nominated in Best Rap and Hip Hop Album at the Korean Music Awards 2022, while "TAIJI'' is one of the nominees in the Best Rap and Hip Hop Song category-marking Changmo's first time to get nods at the said Korean music awards ceremony.

Remarkably, Changmo's "TAIJI" ultimately took home the award, beating SINCE' "Spring Rain" (featuring Rakon), BILL STAX's "420 Flow" (featuring lobonabeat!), Don Miss' "DAEBAK Life" (featuring Northfacegawd, UNEDUCATED KID), and Los' "Blue Lemonade" (featuring Hwaji).

Also, last year, the male K-pop idol was featured in the song "Backpack" by D.ark, Trade L, Young Chens and Baegie. This track was released for the "Team Battle" round on the survival hip-hop TV show "High School Rapper."
