Kim Chaehyun Explains Emojis Floating in Space in Kep1er's 'Up!' MV

Kep1er's "Up!" MV is finally out, and fans surely noticed the emojis floating in space at one point in the music video. In a reaction video, Kim Chaehyun explained what they are. Kim Dayeon also shared how she filmed her scene in space.

On July 1, Kep1er uploaded their "'Up!' MV Reaction" video on YouTube. "Up!" is the title song of the group's new mini-album "DOUBLAST," which was dropped on June 20.

The video kicked off with the members watching the entire "Up!" MV continuously. They then re-watched it slowly and shared behind-the-scenes stories regarding some of their scenes.

They first talked about the part where Hikaru and Dayeon are sitting on a wooden raft, which seems to be floating in the ocean.

Curious about the set, Choi Yujin asked whether the water around the raft was real. Both Hikaru and Dayeon confirmed it was real, and the latter added that the water was only shallow. Hikaru further said that the staff kept pushing the water toward them to create some waves.

As they keep on watching the "Up!" MV, they reached the scene where Kim Dayeon is floating in space, together with a lot of emojis. The members found this part funny, especially the fact that Dayeon's back appears big.

Dayeon then explained that there was a wire around her hips and that's why she looks bigger than usual. "I had this wire on and clothes on top of it... so that's why my body looks like that. Like a person with a life vest on," she stated.

Kim Dayeon also talked about the pink button she pushed in space. She shared that it was an "evening button," which turned the set into nighttime.

Later on, Kim Chaehyun noticed what the emojis floating in space were. She said, "The things here are all things we like. Before doing this MV, we were asked to write down stuff we like."

Mashiro added, "Emojis we use often"-such as strawberries, rainbow, mint chocolate, and more.

Chaehyun went on to say, "I think Dayeon wrote down 'taking a walk at night..'?," and this is why she had a scene floating in space.

Kep1er's "DOUBLAST" Debuts on Albums Chart + "Up!" Lands on Billboard

In other news, Kep1er's "DOUBLAST" and its title song "Up!" successfully made it to more charts this week.

In particular, "DOUBLAST" debuted at No. 9 on this week's Oricon Weekly Albums chart with 7,709 copies sold. It also entered at No. 2 on the latest Gaon Weekly Album chart-the second-highest debut this week following "IM NAYEON" at No. 1.

Previously, Kep1er's "DOUBLAST" debuted at No. 3 and No. 11 on the Worldwide iTunes Album chart and the European iTunes Album chart, respectively. It also ranked within the top 10 on iTunes Album charts in a total of 16 countries.

Meanwhile, "Up!" landed at No. 27 on Billboard Japan's Hot 100. At the same time, their debut song "WA DA DA" ranked No. 89, marking their 25th week on the tally.

Kep1er's "WA DA DA" now ties with IVE's "ELEVEN" as the second longest-running fourth-generation idol group song on Billboard Japan Hot 100.

"Up!" also entered this week's Gaon Download Chart, along with the B-side songs in "DOUBLAST." While "Up!" debuted at No. 14, "LE VOYA9E" landed at No. 65, "Attention" at No. 75, "good night" at No. 78, and "Rewind" at No. 79.
