"Soshi Tam Tam" episode 1 finally aired on JTBC, and many SONEs were excited to see Girls' Generation back on the small screen. But how well did the first broadcast do? Keep on reading to find out.
'Soshi Tam Tam' Episode 1: How High Was First Broadcast's Viewership Rating?
On July 5 at 9 p.m. KST, the highly-anticipated "Soshi Tam Tam" officially premiered. This marks Girls' Generation's first variety show in a long time since the members all pursued solo careers and some left SM Entertainment.
For starters, "Soshi Tam Tam" is a program that follows Girls' Generation, who will celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut in August. It has become a hot topic among fans as it has been a while since the group's members appeared in one show at the same time.
According to reports, Nielsen Korea announced on the morning of the 6th that "Soshi Tam Tam" episode 1 recorded an audience rating of 1.2% based on households nationwide. This rating is fairly good as JTBC is a cable channel and their ratings for variety shows are typically around 0% to 3%.

This only means that "Soshi Tam Tam" got off to a good start. Despite the girl group being on a hiatus since 2017, the show's premiere is a success.
In the first episode, Girls' Generation members went on a two-day, one-night trip where they showcased their undying chemistry. Sadly, only seven members of the group appeared in the first broadcast as Seohyun is currently busy with her drama. It is uncertain whether she will rejoin the group in the following episodes.
Meanwhile, "Soshi Tam Tam" airs every Tuesday at 9 p.m. KST on JTBC.
Girls' Generation to Make Comeback With New Studio Album, As Per Sooyoung
In addition to "Soshi Tam Tam," SONEs also anticipated Girls' Generation's comeback as a full group in August. SM Entertainment officially announced this in May, sharing that the members are preparing to release a new album in celebration of their 15th anniversary since their debut in 2007.
The new album will come after their sixth studio album "Holiday Night," which came out back in August 2017. It will mark the group's first comeback with all eight members after five years.

Regarding the upcoming album, Girls' Generation Sooyoung revealed that it will be a studio album. She appeared on the July 4 broadcast of tvN Story's variety talk show "Take Care of Me This Week," and there she mentioned their comeback.
When Sung Dong II asked Sooyoung how many years it has been since Girls' Generation's last comeback, the female idol responded, "We're returning for the first time in five years with a studio album."
To recall, "Holiday Night" features double title tracks "Holiday" and "All Night." While the "Holiday" music video is a grand celebration with an upbeat, catchy song, the "All Night" video presents candid interviews of the members as they look back on their past decade.
