Many new fans may notice that Super Junior currently promotes with nine members, but if you're a long-time fan, you would argue that the group still has ten members left. The reason there's one missing is because Sungmin is on an indefinite hiatus since 2015. It may look like he has left the group, but the truth is he's just inactive due to various reasons.
If you're wondering where Super Junior Sungmin is now, then read on to find out.
Who Is Super Junior Sungmin?
Lee Sungmin is a South Korean singer and actor. He is best known as a member of Super Junior, which was originally called Super Junior 05. The group debuted in November 2005 with a total of 12 members. In the team, Sungmin is one of the lead dancers.

In the first half of 2006, Super Junior removed the "05" from their name and welcomed a new member, Kyuhyun. In June of the same year, Super Junior released their first music as a 13-member group, specifically a CD single called "U."
Since they debuted, Sungmin has been active in group activities until early 2015, with his latest participation as a Super Junior member being his appearance on "Super Show 6" in Macau in March.
Why Is Sungmin Not Promoting With Super Junior?
Back in December 2014, Super Junior Sungmin tied the knot with musical actress Kim Sa Eun, becoming the first member to become a husband. However, his marriage was not well received by fans, especially Korean ELFs. In fact, his alleged "failure to let ELFs know about his marriage plans" led to some fans planning to boycott Super Junior's promotions as a whole if Sungmin (alongside Kangin) would not be removed from the team.
As a result, Sungmin halted his promotion with the group starting in early 2015 and went on to begin his mandatory military service.

Besides his unexpected marriage, some people believe that there are other reasons behind Korean ELFs despising him. It is said that Sungmin had a bad attitude and was selfish, and treated his co-members poorly.
It was also pointed out that he got married in the same year his bandmate Leeteuk was grieving for the death of his father and grandparents. It was also alleged that he was absent from the group's concert tours due to marriage preparations, and used the fans' gifts as his and his wife's couple items.
Even after he came back from the military, Sungmin remained inactive in Super Junior as Korean ELFs continued to express their frustration about him still being part of the group.

Apart from the Super Junior member, some fans also hate his wife, Kim Sa Eun. The supposed reason is that she was seen liking a meme of an international ELF slapping a Korean ELF on Instagram. What's more, she liked several images which supported Sungmin staying in Super Junior.
None of these were confirmed nor denied, so the main reason for fans hating Sungmin and/or Sa Eun remains a mystery.

As of this writing, Super Junior Sungmin is still an artist under SM Entertainment. He has been releasing songs as the lead singer or the featured artist since his military discharge at the end of 2016. He also opened his own YouTube channel under the SM label, called "Liu Studio." He even appears on different TV shows alongside his wife.
