Former APRIL Chaewon Reveals Final Results of Lawsuit Against Lee Hyunjoo

Former APRIL Chaewon revealed that her lawsuit against Lee Hyunjoo, who claimed she was bullied within the group, has come to an end. She also gave the results of the investigation that took place. Keep on reading to know what the judgment was.

On July 7, Kim Chaewon took to the community section of her YouTube channel to update the fans on her lawsuit against former groupmate Lee Hyunjoo.

This past February, it was reported that the police dropped all seven lawsuits filed against Lee Hyunjoo as they judged it was difficult to prove that the content posted online contained false rumors and malicious intent. However, Kim Chaewon was unsatisfied with the police's decision and filed an objection, hence, a re-investigation was made.

APRIL has been active in the music industry since 2015, but due to the bullying controversy that began last year, the group halted activities, which ultimately ended with disbandment in January.

In her post on YouTube, Kim began her statement by saying, "Hello, my name is Kim Chaewon. To the fans who have been waiting for us through a difficult time, we would like to inform you of the results of the investigation. The final result was decided on appeal."

Former APRIL Chaewon then detailed the summary of judgment of her lawsuit against Lee Hyunjoo that includes three situations. First, in the case of "in-group bullying," the court concluded that while there were general interpersonal problems within the group, it was difficult to clearly determine whether bullying did happen. Hence, they couldn't tell if the claims were false or not.

Second, about the "disparity between members," Chaewon said that although the relevant witnesses stated that it was not true, it was hard to determine whether it is true or false considering that there may be differences depending on the subjective position in their viewpoint on the case.

Lastly, concerning Kim Chaewon's dating rumors with her manager, both parties denied the "dating with the manager." The two managers pointed out as the suspects stated that the case was not true at all. This matter is determined as a false fact.

The former APRIL member continued, "As I said earlier on YouTube, I will take legal action up to this point. My position is not a lie, and I am not ashamed at all."

Kim Chaewon then hinted at her return to the music scene by saying, "In the future, I will greet you with various activities and good music." She finally said, "We apologize once again for causing concern to the fans who have trusted and waited for us."

As of this writing, neither Lee Hyunjoo nor her legal representative has not given their stance on the final results of the lawsuit filed against the actress.

APRIL's Last Group Activity Before Disbandment

As mentioned above, APRIL disbanded in January of this year following Lee Hyunjoo's bullying allegations. The girl group only lasted for six years in the K-pop industry.

APRIL's last group activity is their comeback on July 29, 2020 when they dropped their special single album titled "Hello Summer." This album features the title song "Now or Never" and the B-side track "PARADISE."

In its first week, APRIL's "Hello Summer" sold a total of 7,051 copies on the Hanteo Chart. The special single album also sold 9,120 copies in its first month in South Korea alone.
