Here's How Long It Took TWICE Nayeon to Learn the Hand Movements in "POP!" Choreography

On June 24, Nayeon became the first TWICE member to make her solo debut with her first album, "IM NAYEON." Her title song, "POP!" has since been achieving feats and capturing the hearts of more music lovers. Part of what makes the song so special is its catchy choreography.

In the behind-the-scenes dance practice video uploaded on July 2, it was revealed how demanding the addictive choreography is for Nayeon's "POP!" Even the experienced TWICE member had a hard time learning the steps.

Naturally, Nayeon ultimately nailed it, but one particular movement is especially complicated: the hand choreography. This hand movement is included in her #PopPopPop challenge on TikTok, and many K-pop artists and ONCEs (TWICE's fans) have tried it, including her labelmates ITZY and Stray Kids Felix.

In the behind-the-scenes for TWICE Nayeon's "POP!" performance on Studio Choom, the idol detailed the hand choreography and specified the steps on how to do it. "With this hand, make this rock to paper," she said.

She gave clear instructions to the staff, and was surprised when her "student" managed to pick it up immediately.

TWICE Nayeon then revealed that it had taken her two days to learn the hand movements, and said that only the "genius" people can pull it off in just one day. She named TWICE Momo as one of those people. She commented, "People who can do this move are genius."

Toward the end of the video, the "POP!" singer said, "I was so happy to be back at Studio Choom after a while. Though performing alone was a little awkward, I was happy to see the great outcome."

Nayeon finally said, "For ONCE, I came to Studio Choom so that ONCE can watch. This performance is 100% for ONCE. I hope you enjoy watching it."

TWICE Nayeon Achieves First-Ever Solo Music Show Win With "POP!"

In other news, TWICE Nayeon has successfully taken home her first music show trophy as a solo artist.

On the July 10 episode of SBS's "Inkigayo," Nayeon's "POP!" was candidate for first place together with IVE's "LOVE DIVE" and Sunmi's "Heart Burn." "POP!" ultimately won with a total of 6,922 points, beating "LOVE DIVE" with 6,074 points and "Heart Burn" with 4,555 points.

Meanwhile, "POP!" steadily ranks high on Korean music charts even after weeks have passed since its release. As of 10 a.m. KST on July 11, the track sits at No. 3 on MelOn Top 100, No. 4 on Genie, No. 6 on Bugs, and No. 8 on FLO. Concurrently, It has also reached a new peak in terms of unique listeners on MelOn, garnering 333,033 listeners.

Nayeon's "POP!" rose to No. 2 on MelOn 24Hits chart on the 10th, becoming the highest-peaking debut song by a female K-pop soloist on the tally this decade.

On YouTube, TWICE Nayeon's "POP!" music video has reached 66.9 million views as of this writing.
