The age K-pop idols make their debut has been a topic of discussion for quite a while. Many have expressed their concerns about underage idols. While the average age of idols making their debut in earlier years was between 18 and 22, it seems that idols these days are debuting at a much younger age!
With that, check out these eight female idols who were the youngest to ever debut.
1. LAPILLUS Haeun
MLD Entertainment recently debuted their new girl group LAPILLUS back in June 2022, and features a total of six members. While Chanty is the oldest member of the group, Haeun is the youngest. She was born on November 2, 2008, making her only 13 years old and the youngest female idol to ever debut. She beat BoA's record by two months.
2. BoA
The "Queen of K-pop" BoA was born on November 5, 1986. After training at a young age, she eventually made her debut as a solo artist and entered the entertainment industry on August 25, 2000 at the young age of 13 years old. She previously held the record for the youngest female idol to ever make her debut.
3. IVE Jang Wonyoung
When Jang Wonyoung debuted as a member of Starship Entertainment's girl group IVE back on December 1, 2021, Jang Wonyoung was already 17 years old. However, when she made her debut with "Produce 48" girl group IZ*ONE on October 29, 2018, Jang Wonyoung was only 14 years old.

4. CLASS:y Seonyu
Seonyu made her debut as the main rapper, lead dancer, vocalist, and youngest member of CLASS:y after competing on the competition show "My Teenage Girl." Born on March 20, 2008, Seonyu debuted with CLASS:y on May 5, 2022, making her only 14 years old.
5. Cherry Bullet May
FNC Entertainment debuted their girl group Cherry Bullet back in January 2019, with the youngest member being May, who is also the lead dancer, vocalist, and visual of the group. May was born on November 16, 2004, with her making her debut at the young age of 14.
6. Rocket Punch Dahyun
Dahyun made her debut as the vocalist, dancer, and youngest member of Woollim Entertainment's six-member girl group Rocket Punch on August 7, 2019. As she was born on April 29, 2005, this means that Dahyun was only 14 years old when she debuted with the group.
7. Former KARA Jiyoung
Prior to the group's disbandment, Jiyoung was the vocalist and youngest member of second generation girl group KARA. Jiyoung was born on January 18, 1994, making her 14 years old when she debuted with the group on July 24, 2008.

8. LIGHTSUM Jian
LIGHTSUM made their debut on June 10, 2021, under Cube Entertainment. With eight members to its lineup, Jian serves as the sub vocalist, rapper, and youngest member of the group. She was born on November 4, 2006, making her one of the youngest idols to debut at 14.
