Bugs Music Alters Policy Following fromis_9 Fans' Mass Downloading on Platform
On July 7, one netizen created a post on an online community to share how Flover managed to make fromis_9 rank high on Circle Chart (formerly called Gaon Chart) despite their new song "Stay This Way" not doing well on MelOn and Genie charts.
The netizen pointed out that Flover used the unique point counting system of Circle, in which the higher points they get, the higher the song's ranking. Users need to spend a lot of money to attain many points, which fromis_9 fans did.

In addition, the netizen stated that Flover found a loophole for Bugs Music, where users can create multiple accounts if they are under the age of 14, as long as there's consent from an adult. The netizen added that the fans made posts on online communities to recruit under-aged fans to open unlimited accounts on Bugs Music and download more of fromis_9's "Stay This Way."
Because of these strategies, fromis_9 was able to rank high on both the Circle Chart and the Bugs Music chart. This is also how they achieved a high ranking for the digital score on music shows.
After this post garnered much attention online, Bugs Music has released an official statement, which was shared on social media and online communities. Their statement appears to be a reply to one user who filed a report.

In their statement, Bugs Music revealed that they are currently looking for ways to change the policy where individuals under 14 can create multiple accounts on the platform.
Bugs Music's full statement is as follows:
"Hello. This is the Bugs customer service center. Thank you for your interest in Bugs and for reporting.
Your inquiry has been forwarded to the department in charge, and we will take action to avoid any inconvenience after checking it closely.
Currently, there are some cases of abuse of the system in which a legal guardian's consent is required in user account creation for members under the age of 14.
We are reviewing ways to change the said relevant membership registration policy.
We will apply the changed policy as soon as possible to provide better service.
Thank you."
This new update in Bugs Music's policy will prevent users from opening several accounts on the platform using the loophole for underaged users.
