When Crayon Pop first made their debut back in July 2012, the Chrome Entertainment girl group originally featured a total of five members. However, in 2017, Soyul withdrew from the group and the company. After five years, what has Soyul been up to following her departure from Crayon Pop?
Keep on reading to know Soyul's latest activities.
Soyul's Activities Before Leaving Crayon Pop
As a member of Crayon Pop, Soyul served as the group's main vocalist, lead rapper, and youngest member. The group officially debuted on July 17, 2012 with their single "Saturday Night." However, prior to their debut, Crayon Pop already began their promotions in Japan in May 2012. They subsequently released their song "Bing Bing" and its music video in June.
Following her debut with Crayon Pop, Soyul joined the group for several music releases and promotions. Along with Crayon Pop, Soyul released their most popular songs, such as "Bar Bar Bar," "Lonely Christmas," and "Uh-ee."
During their "Bar Bar Bar" promotions, the group became famous for their matching helmets.
Why Did Soyul Leave Crayon Pop?
After promoting with Crayon Pop for four years, Chrome Entertainment announced in 2016 that Soyul would be halting her activities with the group after she developed an anxiety disorder during the preparations for their first studio album "Evolution Pop Vol.1." The group continued with their promotions as four members.
But in November of the same year, Soyul announced her engagement to former H.O.T member Moon Hee Jun, after being in a relationship since April. The engagement garnered much attention, as it was also announced that they would be marrying in February the next year.
While the Crayon Pop members' contracts with Chrome Entertainment expired and them deciding to part ways, ultimately putting the group in indefinite hiatus as they have not disbanded, Soyul remained in hiatus.
Following Soyul's marriage, she and Moon Hee Jun denied claims of a shotgun wedding after pregnancy rumors were sparked in May. Not long after, Soyul gave birth in the same month.
On May 31, 2017, Soyul officially withdrew from Crayon Pop and left Chrome Entertainment to focus on motherhood.
