These HIGHLIGHT, BTS Songs Consistently Chart on MelOn Even Years After Release

One song by HIGHLIGHT and one track by BTS are recently gaining much attention online. Why? Netizens discovered that the two constantly appear on various MelOn charts even after years of their release. Keep on reading to find out which songs they are.

These Highlight, BTS Songs Garner Attention for Consistent Appearance on MelOn

On July 18, a post titled "The Big 2 Zombie Songs on Digital Charts" was made on the popular online forum Instiz. The netizen who made the post wrote, "'On Rainy Days' appears back on charts every time it rains. 'Spring Day' has never left the charts since its release."

The netizen referred to HIGHLIGHT's "On Rainy Days" and BTS's "Spring Day."

For starters, "On Rainy Days" came out way back on May 17, 2011 when HIGHLIGHT was still promoting under the name BEAST. It is the group's title track from their first studio album "Fiction and Fact."

"Spring Day" was released as the title song for BTS' repackaged album "You Never Walk Alone," which arrived on Feb. 13, 2017.

It has been five years and more since HIGHLIGHT's "On Rainy Days" and BTS' "Spring Day" was dropped but they both continuously chart on MelOn, which is known to be the biggest music streaming site in South Korea.

HIGHLIGHT "On Rainy Days" Draws Attention for Rising, Re-Entering MelOn During Rainy Season

Although "On Rainy Days" doesn't exactly enter MelOn charts each day or each month of the year, it re-enters the chart during a specific season, which is during the rainy season.

On June 23 this year, the song climbed up to No. 149 from No. 464 on MelOn's daily chart and re-entered the top 100 of MelOn's ballad chart at No. 44. It also ranked No. 159 on MelOn's daily chart on June 29 after climbing down to No. 260.

In the previous years, HIGHLIGHT's "On Rainy Days" would always reappear or rise on MelOn charts from late June to mid-July when South Korea's rainy season.

Because this 2011 track always re-enter MelOn during rainy days, it has become people's indication of the weather in Korea at the time.

BTS' "Spring Day" Gains Attention for Steady Appearance on MelOn Even After Years of Release

Meanwhile, BTS' "Spring Day" never left MelOn even after all the reforms the platform did and even after being released five years ago.

In particular, the song ranked at No. 72 on the daily chart on July 17, while it rose to No. 65 on MelOn Top 100 on July 19.

Additionally, "Spring Day" took No. 72 on the MelOn Weekly Chart (dated July 18), marking its 283rd week on the tally- extending its record as the longest-charting idol group song on MelOn in history.
