BTS J-Hope Shows Darker Side of Him in Lollapalooza- and ARMYs Are Going Crazy
On July 31 local time, J-Hope made history as the first-ever South Korean musician to headline Lollapalooza, one of the major U.S. music festivals, in Chicago's Grant Park. His participation in the event also marked his solo live debut.
TickPick, the event's ticketing agent, revealed on Tuesday that the Sunday ticket for the music festival is the most in-demand single-day ticket on record for the event on the ticketing agent's figures. That day happens to be the day J-Hope is the headliner.

It was also revealed by one fan that an organizer of Lollapalooza told them that in 31 years, not one artist has ever sold as many tickets as J-Hope- making his attendance even more meaningful.
Throughout his number, J-Hope performed a total of 21 songs, some of which came from his first solo album "Jack in the Box." The setlist included "Jack in the Box," "MORE," "ARSON," "Equal Sign," "Pandora's Box," "Daydream," "Hope World," "Ego," and more.
The South Korean artist even treated the audience to a tropical remix of BTS' "Dynamite" and a collab stage with Becky G (the two performed "Chicken Noodle Soup").

On TikTok, one fan shared a clip of BTS J-Hope performing "Cypher" at Lollapalooza, and captioned it with, "JHOPE IN LOLLAPALOOZA. HE'S SO CRAZY."
In the clip, J-Hope is seen in an all-black outfit with curly hair. Compared to his bright image in the past, the rapper exuded a darker aura in the video. In fact, he can be heard cursing confidently- and ARMYs seem to love it.
The BTS member began showing off his darker side when he released "Jack in the Box." In an interview with Rolling Stone, he talked about his decision behind the sudden change in vibe. He said he felt the need to show some darker sides for storytelling through music. He added that he wanted to display that his spectrum is wider than most people think of him.
As of this writing, the TikTok video of J-Hope's "Cypher" performance at Lollapalooza has reached 615,000 views and over 180,000 likes.

BTS J-Hope Tackles Meaningful Attendance at Lollapalooza
Meanwhile, Rolling Stone got the chance to talk to J-Hope backstage in the artist area.
When asked about his participation in Lollapalooza, the BTS member said, "It's actually a huge challenge for me as artist J-Hope. It's a very important moment just to go forward."

Since it was a meaningful moment, he had to prepare "really hard." But no matter what the result of his performance is, he knows it would help him "as an artist to take the next step."
This is the first time that J-Hope will perform in front of a big crowd alone, and he confessed that the experience has been "lonely" and that he misses his fellow BTS members. But he said that while the process is "very challenging," it is also "very fun."
