Mark Lee's Remarks & Actions on the Day of NCT 127's Japan Fan Meeting Upset Fans
On Aug. 1, SM Entertainment announced through a press release that Mark, Johnny, and Jaehyun will be absent from NCT 127's Japan fan meeting as they remain positive for COVID-19 even after completing a week of quarantine since having been diagnosed with the virus last week.
On the day of NCT 127's Japan fan meeting (Aug. 2Aug. 2), several hours before the event, Mark once again updated fans on his condition via Dear. U Bubble. However, his messages rubbed NCTzen the wrong way. In particular, the Japanese fans who were already disappointed that they couldn't meet him at the fan meting became more upset at his attitude.

On Bubble, the "Cherry Bomb" singer said that he was sad because it was raining and he couldn't play basketball. He also shared with fans that he had tested negative for COVID-19.
While NCTzen completely understood that he was not in control of the situation with coronavirus and the testing procedures, they felt that Mark Lee could have been more considerate. Fans felt that while they were saddened that he couldn't participate in NCT 127's Japan fan meeting, Mark was more concerned about basketball.

The situation worsened due to the birthday live stream he turned on later that night. Mark revealed through the live broadcast that he initially planned to go live at 7 pm, but his manager told him to do it after the fan meeting ended. It is said that he went live just a mere 10 seconds after the event concluded.
The idol received backlash for this as he appeared to have forgotten that the fan meeting was scheduled to take place at 7 pm.

The Twitter user questioned NCT 127 Mark if he did not even think about the Japanese fans who waited for him and the other fans who came from overseas just to see him.
