4 K-pop Groups That Re-Debuted With New Team Name

While some groups undergo stage name changs or member line-up changes, some revamp and re-debut under new names and concepts entirely. Curious? Here are four groups that re-debuted under totally different team names.

1. ALICE

ALICE initially debuted as ELRIS on June 1, 2017. The group is composed of EJ, Do-A, Chaejeong, Yeonje, Yukyung, Sohee, and Karin.

On December 1, 2021, it was announced that ELRIS was transferred from Hunus Entertainment to IOK Entertainment. On April 11, the group rebranded to ALICE.

They made their first official comeback as ALICE on May 4 with the digital single, "Power of Love." They have not made any comeback since then.

2. Dreamcatcher

Dreamcatcher first debuted as MINX on September 18, 2014. At the time, the group comprised JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Yoohyeon, and Dami.

In November 2016, the company announced that the group would re-debut under the new team name, Dreamcatcher. In addition, two members, Handong and Gahyeon, were added to the group.

Dreamcatcher re-debuted on January 13, 2017, with the single album "Nightmare" and the lead single "Chase Me."

The girl group has since immense success as Dreamcatcher. On July 2022, the girl group concluded their nearly month-long tour in North and South America, "2022 Dreamcatcher World Tour [Apocalypse: Save Us]."

3. HIGHLIGHT

HIGHLIGHT originally debuted as BEAST (also known as B2ST) as a six-member group on October 15, 2009. The group was then composed of Yoon Doojoon, Yang Yoseob, Lee Gikwang, Son Donghwan, Yoon Junhyung, and Jang Hyunseung.

In 2016, the members (except for Hyunseung) left CUBE Entertainment and established Around Us Entertainment. They re-debuted as five members in 2017 under the group name HIGHLIGHT.

In 2019, Junhyung left the group after admitting to watching illegal sex videos sent to him by Jung Joon Young.

On March 21, 2022, HIGHLIGHT released their fourth studio album, "Daydream."

4. IRRIS

IRRIS initially debuted as REDSQUARE on May 19, 2020. The group comprised Green, Lina, ChaeA, Ari, and Bomin.

In 2020, REDSQUARE moved from About Entertainment to Iconic Music & Entertainment (ICONICMne). On June 12, 2022, the group rebranded to IRRIS and was again moved to Justice Records and Mellow Entertainment.

IRRIS made their official debut on July 6, 2022, with the mini-album, "Wanna Know." IRIS is composed of I.L (Green), Liv (ChaeA), Yunseul (Ari), and Nina.
