Kakao Entertainment to Launch First K-pop Boy Group― Here's What We Know So Far

A new K-pop boy group will soon debut under Kakao Entertainment. Prior to that, the company plans on introducing their upcoming artist to the public. Keep on reading to know how you can meet them!

New K-pop Boy Group to Debut Under Kakao Entertainment + to Star in Their Reality Show

On Aug. 17, Kakao Entertainment announced through press releases that they will introduce their upcoming five-member boy group called GOMAK BOYS through a self-titled reality show, which will air via Kakao TV in September.

An official from Kakao Entertainment said, "All the members are talented, from live performances to writing lyrics and composing. Not only did they make self-composed songs, but they also have experience participating in drama OSTs even before their debut."

The reality show "GOMAK BOYS" will follow the five members, who will captivate the global listeners with their charm and talent. In particular, the program will present the debut preparation of the new K-pop boy group.

The official shared, "From the intense practice sessions to profile shooting, music production, and recording, we plan to share with the fans all stages before their debut."

Producing Director Hyejin added, "Members are eagerly waiting for the Lunar New Year to greet you. Through this reality show, we are going to reveal everything from the strong chemistry between the members to the sincerity of their main job, music, so please pay a lot of attention."

Along with the announcement, Kakao Entertainment dropped a teaser video for the upcoming reality show on its official YouTube channel.

Although Kakao Entertainment has several subsidiaries managing their respective boy groups- such as MONSTA X, The Boyz and JUST B, to name a few- GOMAK BOYS is the first K-pop boy group solely formed by Kakao.

Kakao Entertainment to Hold Global K-pop Auditions

In other news, Kakao Entertainment recently announced that they will hold a series of auditions across the globe to discover their next-generation K-pop singers and idol groups.

Auditions will kick off in North America this August, and the agency will accept applications for their "2022 Kakao Entertainment Friends Global Audition" each month through January 2023. The application dates in North America began on Aug. 10 and will end on Aug. 31. Then, the month of September is for China, October for Asia (excluding Japan and China), November for Japan, December for Oceania, and January for Europe.

The audition welcomes all applicants, regardless of age, gender, and nationality. Those who would like to apply can visit the audition website during their respective application period and choose which they would like to showcase, such as vocals, dance, and rap.

The first round of auditions will be held online through photo and video reviews, and the second round will take place through one-on-one video calls. Applicants who will make it until the final round may have the chance to sign an exclusive contract with Kakao Entertainment or its subsidiaries labels as a trainee or an artist.

Kakao Entertainment is yet to announce the specific application dates for the other locations, so always check their official posts.
