During his appearance on "Song Euni, Kim Sook's Sisters Radio" back in December 2018, SHINee Key revealed his diet plan that helped him lose 10 kg (22 pounds).
One radio listener sent a message to the radio show asking the K-pop idol how he lost weight for SHINee's promotions when the members usually had to wear tight outfits.

"When the clothes didn't fit, our stylist would tell me, 'It can't be helped. You should wear one size larger.' That was very uncomfortable so I lost weight," the singer shared.
SHINee Key then revealed that his diet plan for a year involved not eating any refined carbohydrates.
"I didn't eat any refined carbohydrates for one year. I didn't even go near bread or rice. Once I did that, I began to lose weight," the idol stated.
The "Replay" singer then shocked the hosts by mentioning that he lost 10 kg and has since been maintaining his weight for three years. This means he began to shed some pounds in 2015.

In a July 2015 episode of JTBC's "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator," SHINee Key said that his diet requires daily management so he has not been consuming bread, rice, sweet potatoes, potatoes or the like for about half a year (meaning he has been on diet since January 2015).
Key also revealed at that time that he doesn't like exercising so eating salads is his way to lose weight.
In addition to preventing himself from eating carbohydrates, Key also tried other diet plans. In fact, he has done every existing diet plan just to lose weight. He revealed this fact when SHINee appeared on MBC's "Radio Star" in March 2018.
Key said, "There's no diet that I haven't tried. Denmark, One Food, diet lunch boxes, detox, and shake diets. I've even taken drugs that are supposed to help in dieting."
