K-pop songs have a wide range of sounds and lyrics to them. Some are about love, self-empowerment, being proud, hurt, and many others. Now, there are also K-pop songs with questionable lyrics.
We listed some of them so you would know what they are about the next time you listen to it.
Dalshabet "Be Ambitious"
First on the list is the cute and preppy song of the girl group Dalshabet "Be Ambitious". The song is about women being assertive to get a man's attention.
With lyrics such as "Look at my legs, it's pretty, I have a short skirt on. Stop looking at my eyes, look at my legs" partnered with the choreography and how the members are dressed, it is pretty clear that the song is for male's attention.

DIA "My Friend's Boyfriend"
The second song on our list is a song about cheating. This song glorifies cheating and hurting a friend like they are not even remorseful about what they did.
Lyrics like "you're my boyfriend, you're just my friend now. I'm sorry but I took him from you. It's a victory! The first one I got, it's a secret. I'm your other girlfriend.

Taeyang "Only Look At Me"
Now, it is time for a song with such alarming lyrics. At first, listen, Taeyang's "Only Look At Me" sounds romantic. After you read the English translations, it is a different story.
With lyrics such as "Even if I cheat, don't you ever cheat. Even if I forget you, don't you forget me. Even if with another woman, our eyes meet, only look at me. Even if I die, don't leave me.
This is a huge red flag in a song. However, Taeyang, the singer himself acknowledged that the lyrics are very problematic so he warned fans not to fall for a guy with the same personality.
Read the lyrics here so you will know what type of guy to ignore.
Zico "Tough Cookie"
The solo artist's debut song was not welcomed by international fans after it was released because of the slurs used in the song.
Zico used a very hurtful word to say to the LGBTQ+ community. After some hours, his company removed the official music video and replaced it with the word gone. They also released a statement regarding the words they used.
You can listen to it here and judge for yourself.
Hyomin "Nice Body"
Now, this one is a little different but just as bad. Hyomin's solo song is almost glorifying eating disorders just so she can get a guy's attention.
The lyrics "All girls go on a diet, at least once. All girls want to be loved. (Not eating what I want) I will be strong," connotates that she will go on an unhealthy diet just so she will be loved.
Another part of the lyrics goes "(I will endure through the pain) I will become pretty."
There is also a part of the song where she talks about how guys like pretty girls and how she wants to be in guys' dirty thoughts.
I don't know about you, but not eating just so you can impress a man sends a very bad message to women, especially young girls.
KARD "You In Me"
Another song about toxic relationships is KARD's "You In Me". the lyrics can be interpreted as obsessive and selfish.
At the beginning of the song "You're mine, you're my everything. Why don't you know? Nothing can replace you," is already a red flag.
The music video also depicts a very bad relationship, so I guess they really want fans to know about it.
Park Ji Yoon "Adult Ceremony"
The very famous "Adult Ceremony" is the last song on our list. This song is mostly sung by female idols after they turned into adults by the Korean age system.
If you really understand the song, it is a song about grooming a minor.
With lyrics like "I'm a woman now, thank you for waiting for me. Now I'll become a woman at your kiss"
