MTV VMAs 2022 Winners: BTS, BLACKPINK & LISA Bag Trophies at Award Show
On Aug. 28 local time, this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs)- hosted by Jack Harlow, Nicki Minaj, and LL Cool J- was held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. The event featured appearances and stages from the biggest stars in the music industry. Some of the artists even got to leave with an iconic Moon Person trophy.
BLACKPINK was one of the acts who attended the red carpet and gave a performance. The quartet performed their pre-release single "Pink Venom," making history as the first K-pop girl group to perform at the VMAs.

BLACKPINK went on to receive the award for Best Metaverse Performance for their PUBG collaboration "Ready for Love." This is their second time winning at the VMAs after taking home the Song of the Summer in 2020 with "How You Like That."
In addition, BLACKPINK member Lisa snagged the award for Best K-pop for her solo song "LALISA." In her acceptance speech, she expressed her gratitude to the people behind the creation of "LALISA" and to her co-members. She also mentioned BLINKs (BLACKPINK's fan club), saying "Thank you so much for making this happen."
Lisa's win at the MTV VMAs 2022 makes her the first K-pop soloist in history to earn a trophy at the award show.
Lastly, BTS took home the Group of the Year award, marking a remarkable feat by receiving the award for the fourth consecutive year.

BTS & BLACKPINK's Recent Activities
On June 10, BTS came back with their anthology album "Proof" and its title song "Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)." Both the album and the song went straight to the top of iTunes charts in many countries across the globe.
As of 8 a.m. KST on June 11, BTS' "Yet to Come" ranked first on iTunes Song charts in least 97 countries. At the same time, "Proof" swept the top spot of iTunes Album charts in at least 65 countries.

In its first week of release (June 10-16), BTS' "Proof" sold a staggering total of 2,752,496 copies- achieving the highest first-week sales of any album released in 2022. It also obtained the second-highest first-week sales of any album on the Hanteo Chart in history, bested only by BTS' own 2020 album "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" with 3.37 million copies sold.
Moreover, BTS' "Yet to Come" music video is the third-fastest K-pop MV in 2022 to hit 100 million views on YouTube, doing so in only nine days.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK officially dropped their pre-release single "Pink Venom" from their upcoming studio album "BORN PINK" on Aug. 19.

The music video for the song impressively broke the record for the third-biggest 24-hour view count of any MV in YouTube history. "Pink Venom" garnered 90.4 million views, beating BLACKPINK's own 2020 song "How You Like That."
Other than that, BLACKPINK's "BORN PINK" has achieved the highest stock pre-orders of any album by a female K-pop artist in history. It surpassed two million pre-orders in just two weeks since the pre-sale began.
