Jimin Reveals What Happened to Her During Hiatus After AOA's Bullying Controversy
On Aug. 30, JTBC's "The Second World" officially premiered, and the episodes featured outstanding solo performances from its eight contestants- MAMAMOO Moonbyul, Oh My Girl Mimi, former AOA member Shin Jimin, MOMOLAND JooE, former Wonder Girls member Yubin, Billlie Moon Sua, and CLASS:y Kim Seonyou.
"The Second World' is a brand-new survival show in which girl group rappers compete with each other in a singing competition to break the prejudice that rappers lack vocal skills. This marks former AOA member Jimin's return to the entertainment industry after leaving the group and FNC Entertainment in July 2020. Her departure came after the allegations that she bullied Kwon Mina while the latter was still active in the same group.

At one point in "The Second World" episode 1, Shin Jimin sat down for an interview with the JTBC staff, and there she revealed what it was like during her hiatus following AOA's bullying controversy.
"At home, I didn't turn on the lights and I stayed idly, then I couldn't do anything and I couldn't sleep well," she stated. "My sister and I often prayed together."
She continued that she lost a lot of weight during her temporary break. She said that her weight went down to 39kg.
Former AOA member Jimin further revealed, "I didn't meet anyone and I've lived without the internet for months."

When asked why she returned as a singer, she said, "If you ask me to sing right now, I'm honestly in a nervous state. Still, it's something I have to overcome, so I'll keep singing in the future and won't sit still. I don't think there's anything I can do other than work hard."
On the same day, Kim Hyung Joon and contestants Jimin, Moonbyul, and Yubin attended the production presentation for JTBC's "The Second World." During the interview, Jimin shared how she feels about coming back to the entertainment industry after two years.
She shared, "There are things I am still careful about. I believe that if I begin again and work hard again, I will be able to receive love again."

The former AOA member also explained why she decided to return through a survival program. She said, "There is a reason I returned through a competition show. Although I worked as a rapper before, I actually began as a vocalist. I still have that dream of becoming a rockstar."
She added that when she was taking a break, she thought that she wanted to sing when she returned. Fortunately, there was this program ("The Second World"), which she thought would be a good opportunity for her.

The female idol first revealed "VVWD" through her Soundcloud account back in late 2019. Produced by BMTJ, the song is her first music release on the platform.
