1. BLACKPINK Jisoo
BLACKPINK's main visual Jisoo was noticed by SM Entertainment scout employees.
At that time, she was on her way to a concert hall of a YG artist, but she was stopped by the staff from the famous K-pop company, and was asked:
"Do you want to become a celebrity?"
However, back then, she was already a trainee under YG Entertainment, the reason she politely declined the offer.
In 2016, she debuted as BLACKPINK, and later on, rose as the "World's Most Beautiful Woman" by Nubia Magazine in 2022.
2. TWICE Sana
Bae, a member of NMIXX, was also street-cast when she was in middle school. She was approached by an official while she was leaving the campus with friends using the back gate.
After that, Bae got became a trainee and later on joined the group.
When she debuted, Bae became a hot topic for her visuals resembling Bae Suzy, Korea's "First Love."
7. TWICE Mina
Mina was approached by a JYP Entertainment representative while shopping with her mother at a department store in Osaka, Japan. She agreed to an audition and in January 2014, officially became a trainee under JYP Entertainment.
After successfully securing a spot in TWICE on the survival show "SIXTEEN," Mina debuted in 2015 after a little over a year of training.
8. f(x) Krystal
At the ripe age of five years old, Krystal, along with her sister Jessica Jung were street cast by SM Entertainment during a family trip to South Korea in 2000. Though she was offered training at that time, her parents believed she was too young. Her sister Jessica was allowed to train with the company, and she debuted with Girls' Generation in 2007.
In 2006, Krystal was finally allowed to train under SM Entertainment. She debuted with f(x) in 2009 after three years of training.
9. Kim Minju (formerly of IZ*ONE)
Kim Minju was street cast by an Urban Works casting director when she was in the eighth grade. During an interview, she revealed that she was street cast while she was on the way home after a long day of volunteer work.
Before appearing on "Produce 48," she was set to debut in a girl group with soloist Kriesha Chu, but their debut was cancelled. She debuted with IZ*ONE in 2018 and remained a member until the group's disbandement in 2021.
10. aespa Winter
During a radio interview in 2020, Winter revealed she was street cast by an SM Entertainment representative during a dance festival.
Hilariously, Winter at first thought the offer was a fraud. That is because the casting agent did not mention they were from SM Entertainment; instead, they first asked Winter if they wanted to be a celebrity.
