NewJeans Becomes First K-pop Girl Group in History to Score THIS on Spotify US Chart
On Sept. 4, it was announced on Twitter that NewJeans' "Attention" has made its first appearance on the Spotify U.S. Chart on the 3rd. It was also revealed that the song garnered a total of 240,505 streams on that day.
With this, NewJeans is now the first K-pop girl group in history to enter the Spotify US chart with a debut song. They are also now the only third K-pop group to ever do so, following BTS and TXT. Previously, BTS landed at No. 174 with "No More Dream" while TXT took No. 193 with "Crown."

The big news was shared on the popular Korean online community TheQoo and netizens are congratulating the girl group and hoping that their other title songs would also enter the chart.
Here's what netizens said:
"Wow, as expected. The song is good."
"It's not even an English song. This is daebak."
"Charlie Puth was seen listening to Attention. Is it why the responses are increasing?"
"They're building recognition now, so they'll succeed even more with their next release."
"You people, listen to Hype Boy too."
Meanwhile, NewJeans' "Attention" also scored a historic feat on the Spotify Daily Global chart. The song rose to No. 82 on the chart on Aug. 28, breaking the record for the highest peak for a K-pop girl group debut song in history. The initial record holder is IVE's "ELEVEN," which previously took No. 88.

"Attention" went on to reach No. 78 on Aug. 29 and became the only second K-pop group debut song to enter the top 80, following BTS' "No More Dream," which peaked at No. 69.

NewJeans Takes Home 5 Music Show Trophies for "Attention"
In other news, NewJeans has recently earned their fifth music show trophy for "Attention."
On the Aug. 28 episode of SBS's "Inkigayo," the nominees for first place were BLACKPINK's "Pink Venom," NewJeans' "Attention" and NewJeans' "Hype Boy." NewJeans eventually received the trophy after "Attention" scored a total of 6,300 points.
In addition to consistently winning on Korean music shows, NewJeans' "Attention" also steadily ranks high on domestic music charts.

As of 10 a.m. KST on Sept. 5, "Attention" sits at No. 2 on both MelOn and FLO and No. 3 on both Genie and Bugs. At the same time, their MelOn unique listeners have surpassed 460,000.
Their other title songs "Cookie" and "Hype Boy" also remain on the charts. As of 9 a.m. KST, "Cookie" was at No. 8 both on MelOn and Genie, No. 10 on Bugs, and No. 11 on FLO." "Hype Boy" was at No. 3 on Bugs and No. 4 on MelOn, FLO, and Genie.
Over on YouTube, the music video for NewJeans' "Attention" surpassed 20 million views as of Sept. 1, becoming their first MV to do so. "Attention" even reached No. 1 on YouTube South Korea Top Songs chart for the week of Aug. 12 to 18 with 4.88 million views. It was followed by "Hype Boy" (Danielle & Haerin ver.) with 4.49 million views.
