Amid the popularity of the song, BLACKPINK's "PINK VENOM" was judged "ineligible" by KBS's "Music Bank" for THIS reason.
Keep on reading for all the details.
Here's Why BLACKPINK's 'PINK VENOM' Is Not in 'Music Bank' Chart
On September 5, it was belatedly known that BLACKPINK's pre-release track, "PINK VENOM," was ineligible at KBS' "Music Bank" following deliberation.
In particular, the song, which broke the quartet's hiatus in 1 year and 10 months, was released on August 19. Upon release, it immediately performed well on music charts at home and abroad and swept the top spot in various TV music programs.
In fact, "PINK VENOM" topped music shows such as MBC M's "Show Champion," Mnet's "M Countdown" and SBS' "Inkigayo."
Just then, K-pop fans noticed that the track has been excluded from KBS2's "Music Bank" chart and is not mentioned in the rankings, despite its performance.
As a result, KBS reported that it was excluded because it was judged "inappropriate" to be broadcast by its internal song review.
According to the "Results of the Gayo Review" released on the KBS website on Aug. 24, it is confirmed that "PINK VENOM" has been judged ineligible.
The REASON for the disqualification was stated to be a violation of Article 46, also known as the "Limiting Advertising Effect" of the Broadcasting Review Regulations, such as referring to the brand of a specific product.
It wasn't implied, but industry analysts say the fact that French luxury brand "Celine" was mentioned in the lyrics of the song, saying:
"This the life of a vandal, masked up, and I'm still in CELINE."
The aforementioned lyrics seem to have taken issue.
'PINK VENOM' Banned From KBS 'Music Bank'— How Will It Affect BLACKPINK's Promotion?
As "Music Bank" is a major channel for promoting singers' new songs, music agencies usually request re-deliberation by revising some of the lyrics if they are judged ineligible.
However, "PINK VENOM" cannot be found on the list of the results of the music review on the 31st. It seems that YG Entertainment did not request a review.
In response, analysts say that since the music program was not included in the official activities of BLACKPINK's pre-release song, the agency would not have bothered to pass the deliberation by revising the lyrics.
After all, the track was broadcast without any problems on other broadcasters, except on KBS.
In addition to this, the deliberation of KBS seems to not affect the popularity of the song and the group in the global music market.
On the other hand, BLACKPINK will release its second full-length album "BORN PINK" on September 16 and start a large world tour of North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania starting with Seoul next month.
