ITZY Chaeryeong Reveals Honest Thoughts on Group's Concepts
On September 7, the latest episode of "Radio Star" was broadcast. ITZY member Chaeryeong was the episode's specical guest. The female idol expressed how nervous she was to appear on the show after finding out she was cast for the episode.

Chaeryeong confessed that she does not have many talents but showed off her unique skills at the MCs' requests. Chaeryeong then revealed that she is able to move her eyebrows freely and that she can stretch her lips far.

While on the show, Chaeryeong revealed that ITZY's concepts are very different from what she imagined a girl group would be like. She explained why she thought so, saying,
"I dreamed of becoming a girl group idol, but the image I have in my head when I think of girl groups is Girls; Generation. When I joined the line-up for ITZY, I was asked to make a playful facial expression while singing lyrics like, 'You need to tone it down. Cause you like you are trouble.' I was unable to do it."
Chaeryeong sparked laughter among the panel when she confessed, "I am still fighting against myself."

On July 15, JYP Entertainment revealed that "Checkmate," the fourth-most pre-ordered album by a Korean girl group, has surpassed TWICE's "Formula of Love: O+T=3" with 720,665 pre-orders as of July 14.
In the album's first week of availability, the album sold over 472,394 copies on Hanteo Chart. ITZY's fourth number-one album, "Checkmate," debuted at number one in South Korea on the Circle Album Chart for the week of July 16, 2022, selling 700,000 copies.

It surpassed "Crazy in Love" as the group's best-selling album and became the country's most popular album overall. With 33,000 sold album units, of which 31,000 were album sales, Checkmate peaked at number eight on the US Billboard 200.
