"I-LAND" is known to be the survival show that created BELIFT LAB's first boy group, ENHYPEN. During the broadcast of the program, several trainees were eliminated and one of them is Jeong Echan (formerly called Jaebeom). Curious to know where he is now? Read the article below to know what we find out about his current whereabouts.
About Former "I-LAND" Contestant Echan (Formerly Jaebeom)
Jeong Echan, or simply Echan, was first introduced to the public on June 3, 2020 as a contestant in the survival show "I-LAND," created by CJ ENM and Big Hit Music. He was a trainee for six months before participating in the program. He was one of the 19-year-old contestants at that time.
Before competing in "I-LAND," Echan has written, produced, and released a few songs on SoundCloud and goes by the name "Rebum."

Jeong Echan's Journey on Mnet's "I-LAND"
In the first episode of "I-LAND," Echan performed MONSTA X's "Shoot Out" together with Jimin and Sungchul. Sadly, he was sent to the "Ground" along with Jimin, while Sungchul was moved out.
In episode 2, the I-LANDERS and Grounders performed the show's theme song "Into the I-LAND," then in episode 3, each team performed a remix of BTS' "Fire." Because half of the participants had to be sent to the "Ground" in episode 3, producers chose six trainees to be sent to "I-LAND" based on individual practice videos. Echan was one of those six trainees.
However, in episode 6, he returned to the "Ground" after a total of 10 people voted him back. He was then ultimately eliminated from the show in episode 7 and was unable to compete in Part 2.

After being eliminated from "I-LAND," Echan focused on writing and composing songs and became part of the music writing and production group called YOUTH. In fact, he co-wrote and co-composed GHOST9's "Runaway" released in June 2021.
It was uncertain whether he remained as a trainee under BELIFT LAB following the conclusion of the program.

On Jan. 22, 2021, he legally changed his first name from Jaebeom to Echan. Two months later, he did a Q&A session with the fans through his personal Instagram account. One fan asked if he was still planning to chase his dream as an idol, and another fan asked if he was still a trainee. Both fans received a "No" as a response.
In late 2021, he wrote and/or composed more songs for K-pop artists. He composed Park Jihoon's "Love Glass" (off "Hot & Cold") and GHOST9's "Dreaming" (off "Now: Who We Are Facing").
Although former "I-LAND" contestant Echan said that he won't pursue his dream as an idol, he eventually did.
On June 20 this year, HYPLE Entertainment (formerly called High Fly Music) announced that the company had signed an exclusive contract with Jeong Echan. This agency was founded by Kebee, a former CEO of Soul Company and one-half of the male duo Eluphant (which is managed by AB6IX's label, Brand New Music)
