We all know that K-pop groups heavily rely on their agencies to manage and support their activities. This is why groups from the "Big 3" are always successful and guaranteed to have fans even before their debut.
Now, not all groups from smaller agencies fail, but these four K-pop girl groups deserve so much better.
Pristin V
First on our list is the Pledis girl group, Pristin V. The whole group debuted in 2017 after the disbandment of MNET's first girl group from their Produce series I.O.I.
After more than a year, their first and last sub-unit debuted and only released one song "Get It". the song is still revered by many long-time K-pop fans.
Two of their members, Nayoung, the leader, and Kyulkung, the Chinses member, are part of I.O.I, and the other three members, Roa, Rena, and Eunwoo, also participated in the show.
It was a very big shock to their fans as to why Pledis Entertainment give up on promoting the girl group since they were really well-known and had many fans.
In fact, the "Get It" music video has more than 25 million views and that is really a lot before the pandemic.
Now, imagine a girl group like Pristin V, all beautiful and talented ladies debuting in SM Entertainment or any of the 'Big 3' agencies. This is the type of sexy that is missing in today's K-pop, mature and well-executed.
They would have definitely set ablaze the whole of Korea and broken records here and there. Pledis Entertainment is known to wreck their own girl groups, After School and Orange Caramel are prime examples. So there are fans that knew it was coming.
The Ark
The very unfortunate group from Music-K Entertainment has disbanded after only releasing one song, "The Light".
This five-membered girl group is also very talented and has made waves in the international K-pop scene even with just one song.
Though Minju and Yuna Kim tried it again with KHAN, it was another failure as the duo did not succeed to make a name for themselves.
Another member Yujin also tried with "Voice of Korea" and "Miss Beak" but still did not able to get good results. It is the same situation with UNI.T which Suji was a former member of.
It was most probably because they did not have a good to a great agency to back their promotions. Imagine if they debuted with JYP Entertainment, they will have tons of fans and will probably release a full album, and will continue to showcase how amazing and talented they are.
CLC
Although CLC did finish their contract with CUBE Entertainment, they really did not get to show their potential. Debuted in 2015, they went on to release many albums and songs but never really achieve a top-tier status as a girl group.
The members are all beautiful and talented so it was definitely CUBE Entertainment's fault that they did not reach the top.
Their most famous song "Helicopter" was released in 2020 and has more than 65 million views on their official YouTube channel.
If a group and song like this were promoted by a 'Big 3' company, it would definitely reach more than a hundred million views in just a month or two.
Fromis_9
This girl group from MNET's show "Idol School" is the only group that is still together though one member has already left.
Fromis_9 is a K-pop group that deserves better management. The group had a really long hiatus between "Fun" and "Feel Good" which are both good songs.
The members are all pretty, and talented so it is a shock that they are not hitting it big in Korea yet. Fromis_9 are also funny and entertaining so Pledis Entertainment needs to step up their game and promote the girls more.
If they are in SM Entertainment of JYP Entertainment, they would have probably been all over different variety shows and hosting different shows.
Hopefully, with the HYBE backing them, they will achieve success in their next comeback.
