Kim Yoo Yeon's Journey on MBC's "My Teenage Girl"

Kim Yoo yeon was a Grade 4 contestant on MBC's "My Teenage Girl." She was first revealed through a trailer for the survival show in September 2021.

Luckily in episode 3, mentor Jeon Soyeon of (G)I-DLE brought her back to the program. Soyeon explained that if you search up "My Teenage Girl" on the internet, Yooyeon is the first contestant that shows in the search results, and it is good to have a member of a group that catches the eye of the public.

She has since been performing well and ranking high in each evaluation. In fact, she never left the top 3 since she returned to the competition.

Kim Yoo Yeon was a member of the team that performed aespa's "Black Mamba" during the second mission, IZ*ONE's "La Vie en Rose" during the third mission, and Little Mix's "Power" during the fourth mission.

The final episode of "My Teenage Girl" came, and Kim Yoo Yeon was a candidate for the seventh and last spot in the debut lineup, alongside Yoon Chae Won.

Unfortunately, the seventh spot was given to Chaewon, making Yoo Yeon take the eighth place. She was only one place from debuting as a member of CLASS:y.

Many fans were upset about the results, and it was said that fans constantly messaged a company, "begging" them to include Yoo Yeon in the debut lineup. Fans even streamed her final fancam so much that it had more views than the total of all the other 13 girls' fancams.

The reason fans gave her great support is because they knew that joining MBC's "My Teenage Girl" was her first and last chance to debut as a K-pop idol, as her parents didn't want her to pursue that career and wanted her to get a real job instead.

tripleS is slated to debut in 2023 and the company is currently revealing the members one after another.
