Sandara Reveals 2NE1 Was Supposedly Trio

On September 14, Sandara Park appeared as a guest on MBC's "Radio Star," where she received a number of questions about her idol career— from the time she debuted as 2NE1, disbandment and reunion in 2022.

On this day, Sandara Park shocked viewers when she confessed that 2NE1 was originally set to debut as a trio, saying:

"I went to the practice room in tears thinking I couldn't join, and I drank a bottle of soju alone even though I couldn't drink. Since then, Teddy has offered me to record and miraculously joined 2NE1."

As the broadcast went on, Sandara Park also expressed her feelings about the disbandment of the quartet.

Sandara Park confessed:

"It felt like the sky was falling. The company (YG Entertainment) also recognized that the atmosphere and situation were bad. Since then, the company seemed to have judged that it was difficult (to continue as a group).

But the members wanted to be more active. We've been active for seven years, and there were only two full albums."

The "Come Back Home" singer then confessed that it was one of her dark times, thinking that she wouldn't meet Blackjacks (2NE1 fandom).

"I thought about my fans and wondered if I wouldn't see them in the future. I've been a member of 2NE1 for seven years. I think I had a dark time for a few years due to the disbandment of the team."

Sandara Shares Behind-the-Scenes of 2NE1 Reunion at Coachella, Future Plans

After Minzy's departure and disbandment in 2016, 2NE1 set the whole music scene in a frenzy in 2022 after the quartet finally reunited in about seven years during the Coachella festival in the U.S.

In regards to this, the "I AM THE BEST" singer also unveiled behind-the-scenes of their complete stage in April, revealing that they actually have no plans to reunite but CL suggested doing the stage after being invited to the music festival.

"There were many suggestions to do a complete stage, but it was always postponed, and this time, all four of us said okay at once."

Sandara Park surprised everyone by confessing that she even wrote a secret memorandum, saying:

"Coachella asked me to keep the secret. I didn't tell the agency or the manager either. I secretly practiced after the dance academy class run by Gong Minzy because there was no practice space, and I told the manager that I was going to meet my friend."

When asked about her feelings during the performance, Dara added:

"I was so sad that I sobbed after the stage, I didn't want to break up. I did it with a heart of greeting the fans who waited, but I was worried if I didn't recognize them, because the main stage was Asia, but I went up with a heart of 'Let's kill them'. Even now, the silhouette of the four people is my phone wallpaper."

Regarding future plan with 2NE1, Dara hinted at her desire to have a reunion release, conveying:

"2NE1 reunion is my dream. All the members want to reunite, and I think there will be a time when the timing is right. I saw Girls' Generation's reunion activities not long ago, and I thought it would be nice to work as the next runner for the second generation of girl groups."
