IVE Jang Wonyoung Sparks Concerns For Looking 'Too Skinny'
On September 15, various online communities have been bombarded by posts about Jang Wonyoung's recent status. The idol is particularly drawing mixed reactions following her appearance in a music show.
In context, the discussion started when Jang Wonyoung appeared on Mnet's music broadcast "M Countdown" to perform "After LIKE," IVE's latest release.
Jang Wonyoung, who appeared on the stage with pigtails, drew attention for her skinny body and exposed ribs, noticeable during their choreography.
Following the broadcast, the singer's name circulated through various online communities, opening a debate about her look.
In the video, people expressed their concerns to the idol.
- "I'm worried because she's too thin."
- "I know everyone wants you to look perfect, but I feel guilty every time I see you like this."

Jang Wonyoung's Remark About Strict Diet Resurfaces
After seeing the clip, Jang Wonyoung's remark about her body resurfaced, gaining more concerns from fans.
The 18-year-old star confessed:
"Everyone didn't know I was managing it. (They assume) I don't gain weight even if I eat. In fact, I'm a little under the weather, but everyone will be surprised if they know how I do it."
As the idol hints at her harsh diet and management, fans responded:
- "She's still a minor, I feel sorry that she already looks like that."
- "The atmosphere of being praised for her skinny body is bizarre when she got that body by starving herself. "
- "Please eat a lot, Wonyoung."
- "She was originally skinny, but now it's just worse."
IVE's Continuous Rise With 'After LIKE' Release
Meanwhile, IVE released their third single "After LIKE" on August 22, realizing their skyrocketing popularity after two consecutive hits, "ELEVEN" and "LOVE DIVE."
Through this comeback, IVE won all the top charts on domestic music sites, achieving a perfect all-kill, and continuing the craze.
The song particularly sits atop the MelOn real-time chart of Korea's largest music site on August 27, a week after its release, despite prominent songs as rivals such as NewJeans' "Attention" and BLACKPINK's "Pink Venom."
Their album sales are also career-high. On the first day of its release, IVE, which lightly exceeded the sales of its previous work "LOVE DIVE," achieved sales of 1,111,177 copies as of September 8, ranking first in the monthly (August) album chart of the Circle Chart (formerly Gaon Chart).
The public response is also good. This September IVE announced its full-fledged participation in numerous university and music festivals in South Korea.
