Under his new agency, JR would begin his promotions under his birth name Kim Jonghyeon as a solo artist and an actor.

In April, JR featured in former Wanna One member Yoon Jisung's song "Summer Drive." In July, JR held his first-ever solo fan meeting Hi! (하이!). More recently, JR is set to be a fixed cast member of ENA's upcoming program Surfer Junior, which will air in October this year.
