KARA To Return For 15th-Anniversary With 5 Members

On the 19th, TV Report stated that KARA is preparing to release an album to mark the 15 years of the group's career.

They said that the 2nd gen girl group will come back in November after their long hiatus.

KARA will be releasing a full-length album and it is their first in 7 years. Their last release was in May of 2015 with their 7th mini album "In Love."

This comeback will be very meaningful because it is a complete album with all five members, including Nicole and Kang Jiyoung who left in 2014. Of course, leader Park Gyuri, main vocalist Han Seungyeon, and youngest Heo Youngji who were all existing members are also included.

The members expressed their desire to enjoy themselves together with their fans with an album full of happy and bright energy.

According to Instiz, the album will be like a festival as it was prepared for the fans who have sent love and support for a long time. It is Rainbow Bridge World, MAMAMOO's agency, that now handles the group's activities after they bought DSP Media.

The entertainment agency announced that they will fully support the 15th-anniversary album since it will be released after a long time. They will help KARA members express their wishes to their fans as much as possible, said RBW CEO.

DAUM further announced that the 2nd gen girl group is also planning to appear on various TV shows at the same time as the release of the album for their 15th-anniversary celebration.

KARA's Colorful History Through The Years

KARA debuted in 2007 under DSP Media with their first full-length album "Bloooooming" and title track "Break It."

They were originally a group with four members but became five after their former leader left. Hara and Jiyoung were added to the slot.

They came back with a different style and music in 2008 with "Pretty Girl," and "Honey" was their breakout hit.

They followed it up with "Mr.", known for its "butt dance," as well as "Lupin," "Jumping," and "STEP," which were all a success.

After receiving great love from the public and being dubbed as "the representative girl group of the second generation," they debuted in Japan and became an even bigger hit there.

They gained global popularity by recording high album sales on the Japanese Oricon chart and holding a solo concert at the Tokyo Dome for the first time as a girl group.

However, in 2014, Jiyoung and Nicole left the group after not renewing their contracts with DSP Media.

Nicole pursued a solo career as a singer while Jiyoung became an actress in Japan. Because of that, the "KARA Project" came to be and Youngji was added to the girl group.

KARA officially disbanded in 2016 after DSP Media reported that Park Gyuri, Hara and Seungyeon did not renew their contracts.

In June of this year, the group did a photoshoot that sparked the speculations of a group reunion and a possible comeback.
