"My Alcohol Diary": Crush Reveals He Used to Hate Performing THIS OST That People Love

On Sept. 23, Crush guested on the latest episode of Lee Young Ji's "My Alcohol Diary" series (also known as "No Prepare"). At some points, the conversations got serious as the R&B singer gave advice to Lee about music and shared a story about the time he was at his lowest.

Lee Young Ji debuted as a rapper and initially wanted to focus on producing music centered on rap. But now, she wonders if she should also include singing or dancing into her performances.

Regarding this, she asked Crush on how to search for her musical direction. The male artist responded that she should treat creating music like writing a diary.

The male idol also confessed that he himself struggled in his musical direction, particularly the time when he was at one of the most successful points in his career- which is when he released the hit OST "Beautiful."

To recall, Crush's "Beautiful" served as an OST for the popular tvN drama "Goblin." The song quickly reached No. 1 on domestic music charts such as MelOn, Mnet, Bugs, Olleh Music, Genie, Monkey3, and Naver Music shortly after its release on Dec. 31, 2016.

Going back to the latest episode of Lee Young Ji's "My Alcohol Diary," Crush said:

"The time I was suffering the most from a slump was when I released 'Beautiful' five years ago. That song received much love from people. I was very grateful for it but on one side I felt empty."

The R&B singer continued that he was thankful that the people liked the song and that he was invited many times to sing it at weddings. However, he revealed that he actually didn't want to perform that OST on stage.

Crush explained to Lee Young Ji, "Because that song was a bit different from the song that I have been pursuing so far."

The "Rush Hour" singer used to work with those of the Hongdae underground, like Beenzino, Zion.T, Swings, and Giri Boy, and that hip-hop/R&B direction was the only genre he wanted to pursue back then. However, "Beautiful" was a ballad.

At that point, he was puzzled musically that he ended up having panic attacks, making it hard for him to sing the OST on stage. In fact, there was a time when he was unable to breathe.
