THIS BTS Member Is the Reason HYBE Trainees Normally Train in America

On the Sept. 27 episode of the "OK POP!!" YouTube channel, BTS' creative director and dance teacher Son Sung Deuk made a guest appearance, and there he talked about a certain BTS member.

The discussions began when the host brought up the fact that he has worked with numerous K-pop boy groups such as BTS and TXT. The host also commented, "The process must have been not always rainbows and butterflies. Because it's not like the company was well-off from the beginning."

BTS' creative director responded, "It was when chairman Bang Si Hyuk considered the importance of performance highly." He added that there was a plan to make hip-hop-based music for BTS, so the chairman thought it was crucial to experience America's hip-hop culture first as hip-hop was born in the United States.

Son Sung Deuk then revealed that while Bang Si Hyuk was fully committed, the people around him were concerned about how they would get there. But the chairman handed Son the budget and asked him to choose the trainee with the most potential to go to the U.S., and he picked BTS Jungkook.

He further shared what they did in the U.S., saying, "We both went to dance studios together, wearing backpacks on our shoulders. And observed what Americans ate and what the atmosphere was like at the dance studios, etc."

After training in America, Jungkook improved so much that he wasn't shy anymore and started nailing the dances.

"Jungkook was so shy back then before he made his debut. But as soon as he arrived back in Korea, he had the eyes of a tiger. He immediately began killing it, driving his talents to increase rapidly," Son Seung Deuk revealed.

When asked if he took any other trainees that are also now K-pop idols to the United States, Son named TXT Yeonjun and Taehyun.

He then explained that it's because of BTS Jungkook that HYBE trainees will normally go to America to train. Because Jungkook set a successful example at the time, it became a training culture of the company.

Since it arrived, Jungkook and Charlie Puth's "Left and Right" has been ranking on Billboard charts. This week, the song took No. 44 on Hot 100 in its 13th week on the list, extending the BTS member's record as the first and only K-pop idol to spend 13 weeks on Hot 100.

"Left and Right" has also spent its 13th week on Billboard Digital Song Sales after claiming No. 30 this week, as well as on Billboard Global 200 after ranking 44th.
