BLACKPINK's 'BORN PINK' Achieves New Historic Milestone on Billboard 200

BLACKPINK made another history on Billboard 200 with their newest second studio album "BORN PINK," proving the album's consistent popularity in the United States.

BLACKPINK Makes Billboard 200 History Anew With 'BORN PINK'

In the week ending on Oct. 1, BLACKPINK made history as the first female K-pop artist to reach No. 1 on Billboard 200 with "BORN PINK." The full album was able to rank first on the chart after selling a total of 102,000 equivalent units during the week ending on Sept. 22.

Now, according to Billboard on Oct. 2 local time, "BORN PINK" once again secured a spot on the same chart for the week ending on Oct. 8. The album ranked fourth with a total of 40,000 equivalent album units sold in its second week in the United States.

Notably, BLACKPINk is one of the only two female artists in the top 10 on this week's Billboard 200. (The other one being Beyonce).

Even though the album sold less copies this time and dropped to No. 4 on the famous Top 200 Albums chart, the four-member global girl group achieved a new feat, something that no other female K-pop artist has done before.

In particular, BLACKPINK is now the first female K-pop act in history to stay in the top five on Billboard 200 for two weeks. They are also now the first female K-pop artist to ever have two albums remain in the top 10 on the chart for multiple weeks. Prior to "BORN PINK," "THE ALBUM" is the first BLACKPINK album and first K-pop girl group album to spend several weeks in the top 10.

Meanwhile, as Billboard is yet to reveal the latest rankings of its other charts, it is yet to be seen whether BLACKPINK's "BORN PINK" and its songs "Shut Down" and "Pink Venom" will re-enter charts this week.

BLACKPINK's 'Shut Down' Bags New Music Show Win + Remains Atop of YouTube's Global Charts

In other news, BLACKPINK's "Shut Down" earned another music show trophy recently.

On the Oct. 2 episode of SBS's "Inkigayo," BLACKPINK's "Shut Down" went against IVE's "After LIKE," and NMIXX's "DICE" for first place. "Shut Down" won with a total of 9,077 points.

"Shut Down" isn't only showing its steady popularity on Korean music shows but also on YouTube.

According to YouTube's Global Top Music Videos chart for the week of Sept. 23 and 29, BLACKPINK's "Shut Down" music video maintained its spot at No. 1 in its second week. The MV accumulated 29.2 million views during the said tracking week.

The music video for the quartet's pre-release single "Pink Venom" also stayed strong at No. 2 with 19.4 million views.

"Shut Down" and "Pink Venom" also retain the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively, on YouTube's Global Top Songs chart for the same week. This chart accounts for total activity across all eligible uploads; "Shut Down" earned 58.8 million YouTube streams, and "Pink Venom" had 46.4 million.

Finally, BLACKPINK was the most popular group on YouTube last week, taking No. 4 on the latest Top Artists chart, following Bad Bunny, Alka Yagnik, and Udit Narayan.
