5 K-Pop Groups That Disbanded Too Soon

Some K-pop groups last years together. Sadly, some cannot even last more than twelve months. Here are five K-pop groups that disbanded too soon.

5. HINAPIA

When HINAPIA made their debut on November 3, 2019, many were excited. That was because four of the five members were former PRISTIN members - specifically Minkyeung, Yaebon, Gyeongwon, and Eunwoo. Bada was the fifth member and the new addition to the K-pop scene.

They saw moderate success with their debut single "Drip" and were nominated for the Best Super Rookie Award at the 2019 K-Champ Awards.

Sadly, on August 21, 2020, OSR Entertainment announced that HINAPIA had disbanded, and the member terminated their contracts. This was disappointing, as they announced the group was preparing for a comeback in February that year.

They disbanded after nine months as a group.

4. XUM

XUM was a trio composed of former NeonPunch members, Dayeon, Baek Ah, and Iaan. They debuted on September 24, 2020, with their single album "Ddalala."

Just eight months after their debut, XUM disbanded on June 1, 2021. Their label, Kpop Live Entertainment, announced the group's disbandment through XUM's YouTube community board.

3. VIVIDIVA

VIVIDIVA was a five-member group under DN Entertainment that debuted on September 15, 2015. The group consisted of Guu Me, Ha.L, Sara, Sunyul, and Saeyan.

The group was largely underrated and failed to gain a stable fanbase. Due to their low popularity, they disbanded on March 24, 2016 - just six months after their debut. Their agency announced their disbandment through the group's fancafe.

2. X1

X1 is arguably the most popular group on this list but sadly had one of the shortest lifespans. X1 was the group formed through "Produce X 101" and was composed of Kim Yohan, Kim Wooseok, Hang Seungwoo, Song Hyeongjun, Cho Seungyoun, Son Dongpyo, Lee Hangyul, Nam Dohyon, Cha Junho, Kang Minhee, and Lee Eunsang.

The group debuted on August 27, 2019, and was contracted to last five years. However, their future was put on hold after the producers of "Produce X 101" admitted to rigging the group's ranks.

In January 2020, it was announced that the group would disband following a meeting between the members' individual agencies. Unfortunately, not all the agencies were on board for the groups to continue promoting, leading to disbandment. The agencies also could not agree on a final song and video; thus, nothing was released after the meeting.

Their disbandment was highly controversial, as none of the X1 members had a say in the group's future.

X1 disbanded after only four months as a group.

1. SOLIA

SOLIA is known as the group with the shortest time together. They disbanded after only five days as a group.

SOLIA debuted under Space Music Entertainment on August 17, 2021, under their digital single "Dream." The group comprised Suna, Eunbi, Soree, Soyeon, and Hayeon.

On August 22, it was announced that SOLIA disbanded as the company did not have the means to support them. On August 26, Space Music Entertainment clarified that the group disbanded as the members had different views on their careers.

After discussions between the members and the company, it was decided that disbandment would be the best route.
