BLACKPINK Enters 'BoF 500 Class of 2022' Establishing Impact in Global Fashion World
On October 4, the Korean media outlet apparelnews reported on BLACKPINK's entry in the "BoF 500 Class of 2022," curated by the British fashion media outlet Business of Fashion (BoF).
As a short context, this list selects the most influential fashion-related figures from 45 countries and 70 nationalities across eight categories, including designers, creative class, executives, models and muses, media, catalysts, retailers and entrepreneurs since 2013.
It initially selects 500 members, but as of this year, there are a total of 1,193, including six new Korean personalities. The significant figures on the list were selected based on their leadership, creativity, innovation and impact.

The list is particularly curated by The Business of Fashion editors, which was based on the nomination and on-the-ground intelligence from around the world.
Among the names that raised the status of the Korean fashion industry in the global market, BLACKPINK entered the "BoF 500 Class of 2022."
The fashion outlet introduced the quartet comprised of Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Rosé as:
"The four members of K-pop sensation BLACKPINK have become front-row favorites at fashion week and signed an impressive number of deals with luxury brands."
In their biography, BoF emphasized BLACKPINK's influence on YouTube and described them as "celebrity style icons" who are the main events during fashion shows.
Currently, Jisoo is the global ambassador for Cartier and Dior, while Jennie represents Chanel. Rosé is the muse of Yves Saint Laurent whereas Lisa belongs to Celine and Bvlgari.

Meanwhile, the fashion icons are the only K-pop group with all members to join the list, proving BLACKPINK's power as a whole.
Among idols, G-Dragon is the first K-pop idol to enter the list recognized as a person shaping the global fashion industry in 2015. BoF lauded his massive influence across Asia and huge global fandom.
CL then became the second K-pop idol and first female idol to enter the list in 2016, introducing her as "South Korean Force of Nature," "Pop Culture Phenomenon" and "Queen of Hip-hop."
Prior to BLACKPINK, BTS Jimin became a member in 2019, highlighting how the group and members made history for wearing the first men's stage wear for a pop band created by luxury brand Dior. It is said to be the K-pop industry’s most high-profile sponsorship to date.
