BIGBANG member G-Dragon is one of the many celebrities who have expressed their grief following the heartbreaking deaths of the many young individuals during Halloween celebrations in the Itaewon neighborhood in Seoul on the night of Oct. 29.

On Nov. 1, G-Dragon took to his personal Instagram account to create Instagram stories featuring a daisy flower losing a petal. He also wrote, "Pray for Itaewon...29.10.2022."

While the male idol's Instagram story seemed to be no different from the posts of other celebrities expressing their sorrow over the recent Itaewon tragedy, K-netizens have divided reactions on the BIGBANG member's decision to include a daisy in this post.

For starters, the daisy is widely known to be the logo of G-Dragon's brand, Peaceminusone (PMO). The PMO daisy, also known as the G-Daisy, is interpreted by the idol as a clock face, with the missing petal at the 8 o'clock position. In addition to being a lucky number in Korea, the number 8 also represents his birth date, which is 8/18/88 (Aug. 18, 1998).

G-Dragon's Instagram story was reuploaded on the online forum Nate Pann, and there some netizens think that the "Still Life" rapper was insensitive by incorporating his personal brand design to a post concerning the Itaewon tragedy. They find it as inappropriate as he seems to be using the unfortunate situation to promote his brand.

They commented:

"It seems like he's using a tragic event to promote his brand."

"Did he really have to [use his brand design]?"

"Is this even considered art?"

"I guess to him, another person's death is just another opportunity to show off his identity."

"It's cheap of him to use this for his brand."

"Does a daisy even have anything to do with Itaewon?"

The award ceremony will be held at Osaka's Kyocera Dome in Japan on Nov. 29 and 30. The first lineup of artists attending include Stray Kids, TXT, ENHYPEN, TREASURE, JO1, ITZY, IVE, and Kep1er.
