Due to the 18-month mandatory military service that Korean men are required to do, these 7 K-pop idols might have to bid their goodbyes to fans temporarily in 2023 to comply with the South Korean law.
In particular, all male Korean citizens aged 18 to 28 are required to perform about two-year military service. In some cases, people are exempted only if they were national athletes, traditional musicians and ballet dancers. So far, no K-pop idols have ever been exempted from this enlistment.
In the case of BTS, the members such as Jin's duty was deferred until he was 30, for the honor that they have given to South Korea, such as elevating the cultural influence around the world. Thus, while Jimin and V are both born in 1995, they can push their duty until 2025.
