aespa Hailed Most Popular 4th-Gen Group on YouTube Among Teams That Debuted During Pandemic

On December 2, the Korean magazine star1 released an article featuring the "Top 10 artists who debuted during the pandemic in terms of YouTube views."

In particular, the rankings came from the video of the K-pop conference, "2022 K-POP RADAR Conference," hosted by the music startup Space Oddity. The results were selected based on related video inquiry data in the YouTube artist chart from August 2021 to August 2022.

In the infographics which were also shared by the K-media, detailed data related to artists have been released, particularly for the top 2 K-pop groups.

First, the data of those of the group who debuted in 2020, the year that the COVID-19 pandemic started were collected. As a result of analyzing the YouTube views of the artists, aespa ranked first among them.

In particular, aespa was found to have 21.3% of the related video views on the YouTube artist chart from South Korea, proving that it has strong support from domestic MYs (fandom).

The quartet has also been confirmed to be gaining popularity in Indonesia (10.8%), Japan (8.2%), Thailand (7.3%), India (6.6%), the Philippines (5.1%), Vietnam (4.3%), and the United States (3.7%). Brazil and Mexico followed with both 3.3% contribution in their total YouTube views.

The team is also showing great influence among senior top musicians, ranking eighth in the overall ranking in the "2022 K-pop World Map."

Meanwhile, aespa debuted on November 17, 2020, with its popular debut track, "Black Mamba." Due to its unique worldview and excellent idol skills, the quarter gradually rose into the limelight, creating hits such as "Next Level," "Savage" "Illusion" and more.

Following aespa, ENHYPEN ranked second, having the Philippines (15.5%) as the backbone of the fandom in terms of music video streaming. Along with the country, they also flaunted their influence in Japan with 14.1%.

The group also cemented its status as an irreplaceable global K-pop star, gathering popularity in Thailand, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Malaysia and India. Shockingly, the group earned the lowest music views contribution in Korea, with only 2.4%.

ENHYPEN debuted on November 30, 2020, under BE:LIFT LAB a label founded by CJ ENM and HYBE. The members were comprised of winners from Mnet's survival show, "I-Land." The team is famous for its songs including, "Polaroid Love, "FEVER," "Drunk-Dazed" and more.
