In a broadcast, "Married Idol Couple" Yulhee and Minhwan garnered divided opinions after revealing the surprising COST spent on their three children's education.
FTISLAND Minhwan, Yulhee Open Up on Conflict Over Kids' Education Cost
Recently, former Laboum Yulhee and F.T Island Choi Minhwan confessed that they were having conflict over opposing views regarding their three children's educational costs.
In a trailer released by Channel A's "Dr. Oh's Golden Clinic," Yulhee and Minhwan talked about their concerns about their married couple's life, particularly about raising three kids; a son and twin daughters.
On this day, the couple initially released a love story and started with a sweet atmosphere. Yulhee confessed that she was the one who asked her acquaintance to introduce her to Choi Minhwan, while the latter also confessed the moment she fell in love with his wife.
However, the two confessed that they were at odds due to different views regarding the cost spent for their kids' education, Yulhee saying:
"The cost of education is 8 million won (6.2k USD) per month for three children. Doesn't any mother want to give that to their children?"
However, Choi Minhwan replied:
"I don't really understand that. Isn't it too much to spend all that money at once?"
Dr. Oh Eun Young, who had been listening to the couple's opposing views, then said:
"Yulhee is projecting her own deficiency onto her children."
Yulhee Draws Mixed Reactions For Spending Big Amount For Children's Education
Following the trailer, the couple, particularly Yulhee immediately received pouring criticism.
Viewers, who are also mothers, agreed with Minhwan and complained of inconveniences.
- "How much do celebrities earn that they can spend 8 million won a month?"
- "Blood tears are shedding from the perspective of ordinary people raising children like me."
- "I can't relate."
- "It's not a story that can be sympathized with from the perspective of the general public."
- "Why should you spend 96 million annually?"
On the flip side, some defended Yulhee.
- "I don't think it's wrong to spend an amount like that. They worked hard for it."
- "Why do people always act like they are the best mother when it comes to raising other kids?"
- "Not your kid, not your money, not your problem."
Meanwhile, Choi Minhwan and Yulhee got married in October 2018. At the time, the male idol announced on his fan café:
"There were a lot of hard times, but I am trying to bear the fruit with the conviction of love with my girlfriend. We have trusted and relied on each other. I made a big decision in my life of getting married and felt grateful for many people's congratulations."
The couple made headlines by announcing their marriage with pre-marital pregnancy. In particular, the wedding date was even more popular as it happened after giving birth.
Choi Minhwan and Yulhee gave birth to a son in May 2018. They, later on, got their twin daughters in 2020.
