LOONA's Comeback in January Postponed Indefinitely — Here's How People Are Reacting

LOONA decided to postpone indefinitely their supposed comeback in January, but why are fans not even sad? Here's the reason.

LOONA Postpones 1st Comeback Indefinitely

It has been reported that LOONA, a group under Blockberry Creative, will postpone their scheduled 11-member group comeback indefinitely.

According to the agency via its official fan cafe on December 22:

"After listening to Orbit and many other people's opinions, we decided that (LOONA's) comeback activities were meaningless when various concerns about the members' situations were not resolved yet.

So, we decided to postpone LOONA's 'The Origin Album [0]' which was diligently prepared by 11 members and was supposedly scheduled to be released on January 3, 2023, indefinitely."

Along with the announcement, the agency also took the opportunity to release its side over a series of issues surrounding LOONA. This includes the repeated allegations over the company's unfair settlement system, the reason the group hasn't received any income since their debut in 2016, as well Chuu's departure from the group.

"Because LOONA was a long-term and huge project that required a lot of investment and cost compared to ordinary idol groups, the ostensible results were often not revealed as much as we tried. Since LOONA was planned and formed, it was up to the agency that had to pay for pre-investment.

And there are many misunderstandings and speculations on the settlement, but as a result, we always felt sorry for the members of LOONA who haven't made profits for a long time. From the beginning, the success of LOONA was almost impossible to achieve without the trust and sacrifice of the members."

Blockberry Creative also added further explanation why they decided to let go of Chuu.

"It would be great if the entire LOONA was imprinted as a single name to the public, but due to the nature of being a multi-member girl group, it was inevitable for us to support and cheer the members who gained public awareness first. Unfortunately, the attitude of a former member began to change.

Ultimately, we took risks and insisted on the future by coming up with an agreement to change the contract details, and we tried to protect LOONA in any way possible.

But as everyone knows, we came up with an unfortunate ending."

At the end of the statement, Blockberry attested to fans that they will create an environment where Orbits can be happy with the new LOONA.

"Of course, all the problems stem from the company's lack and we should be responsible for it, but we can't stop trying to protect LOONA and achieve our dreams together. We will create an environment where all the fans can cheer for LOONA with happy hearts. Please cheer for their dream and future."

Orbits React To LOONA's Comeback Postponement

Following the announcement, K-pop fans expressed various reactions on various social media platforms.

Orbits (LOONA fandom) first expressed their delight and relief.

The reason? Some fans were actually about to boycott the release if it was pushed through, which was expected to cause damage to both agency and the group's effort.

The fandom stated that they will not be able to enjoy the content and album to its full extent, especially since Chuu isn't included anymore.

Also, the agency should prioritize resolving its issues first.

  • "So we succeeded in boycotting them."
  • "Yeah, so just try to make a comeback again and we will boycott."

On the other hand, a lot of fans who support the original 12-member lineup expressed their rage and frustration. Instead of the company humbling themselves, the statement sounded like they were blaming Chuu for LOONA's comeback postponement and the controversies they are facing.

  • "Legendary victim cosplays."
  • "They are still unable to wake up"
  • "Anyone can tell they are trying to blame Chuu. For real? I have nothing to say."
  • "This company isn't real..."
