On December 29, Korean media outlet Sports Chosun conducted a survey of 20 entertainment agencies to review the performance of female singers who rewrote Korean music history.

With the exception of selecting their own artists, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, HYBE, Cube Entertainment, Starship Entertainment, Jellyfish Entertainment, Mystic Story, RBW, Wake One Entertainment, Antenna, WM Entertainment, Woollim Entertainment, and more participated in the survey.

The 20 agencies can vote up to three artists, giving 5 points for 1st place, 3 points for 2nd and 2 points for 3rd place.

As a result, "Rookie Monster" NewJeans was hailed as first place with 57 points.

When the group debuted, they immediately gained attention for their unconventional concept as shown through their debut hits, "Attention," "Hype Boy" and "Cookie."

They eventually became a girl group that succeeded in all the triple title songs with their debut album for the first time in Korean pop music history.

Officials described the group as:

  • "(Group with) unrivaled team color"
  • "A monster rookie who quickly entered the charts as soon as they debuted."
  • "It would have been a debut that will be talked about for a long time."
  • "It would have been the most successful debut."

Trailing behind the "Ditto" singers is IVE, who amassed 53 points.

This 2022, the sextet rose as a girl group popular for all ages and genders. Almost everyone knows their songs, dance and members, thanks to their hits "ELEVEN," "LOVE DIVE" and "After LIKE," making the team occupy the music charts for 12 months.

Officials described them as:

"Icons encompassing the entertainment industry."

(G)I-DLE then came in third with 26 points.

After team reorganization, the quintet overcame the crisis with the presence of their hits, "TOMBOY" and "Nxde."

Officials lauded (G)I-DLE's "self-produced" identity, which cemented their name in the music scene.

"The musicality and popularity seem to be solidified at the same time."

LE SSERAFIM, a group created with the collaboration of HYBE x Sound Source, ranked fourth with 20 points.

Although their start was shaky, the rookie proved their concept of moving forward without fear by showing endurance and strength through "FEARLESS" and "ANTIFRAGILE."

Officials commented:

"A group that has both visuals and skills."

In fifth place is IU, who earned 17 points.

Although IU didn't release a new song aside from her collab with Jay Park, the "Nation's Sweetheart" still rewrote Korean music history this year by becoming the first Korean female artist to enter and hold a concert at Jamsil Main Stadium, the largest concert hall in Korea.

In particular, only boy groups were only able to fill the venue, such as H.O.T and BTS. IU even sold out her concerts for two scheduled dates.

In addition to the Top 5, BLACKPINK, who became the first K-pop girl group to top Billboard 200, ranked 6th place.

Song Ga In and Younha tied at No. 7.

aespa then occupied the 9th place, while KARA and TWICE followed in 10th place.
