Deobi's Hurtful Message To THE BOYZ Younghoon Garners Attention
On December 28, a post about THE BOYZ Younghoon in an online community forum sparked discussion among K-pop fans. The post contains a screenshot from Bubble, a fandom-communication app used by the group.
The screencapped image shows the conversation between Younghoon and a fan.
The photo was translated as:
Younghoon: I can't show you my side that you will like right away, but I can show you my side who will keep on improving.
Fan: It's funny that you're still trying to practice now although it has been 5 years since you debuted. Please practice more, I'm so embarrassed (by you) that I can't even say, 'I like THE BOYZ.'
Younghoon: Thank you for your pretty words. Aja aja fighting!
As soon as the post spread in online communities, netizens expressed various opinions about the fan's remark and attitude toward the idol.
- "If you're going to send something like that, why pay money for it (bubble)? Maybe you should have spent that money on another thing like a drink or something..."
- "No matter what isn't calling yourself a fan too much?"
- "How can you say that to Kim Younghoon? How can you do that? You'll know if he sends you a private message that he's a person who tries to show a good side of himself, and he wants to give back as much as he was loved every day. He wants to try to express everything. [...] If you're going to do that, just don't send him a DM."
Reason Younghoon Was Called Out, Idol's Response To Hurtful DM
Younghoon and his group have been the receiving end of criticisms in the past weeks. THE BOYZ, who has been actively joining numerous award ceremonies, music festivals and year-end shows from the end of November to December, ignited criticisms and doubts for their skills.
This was after Younghoon, Jacob and Hyunjae performed at the SBS Gayo Daejeon, in collaboration with legendary Korean band Jaurim on December 24.

People called it a "nightmare" that made viewers' pupils "shake" at how their vocals didn't match Kim Yuna's iconic voice.
Now, fans are concerned that Younghoon has most likely read the message as he hinted several times about reading every message before.
In fact, prior to this, he also responded to receiving harsh messages and pleaded with fans on the 21st, saying:
"Also! I am always taking care of myself since I want to showcase my prettier image. That's why I am also reading and working hard to improve the things pointed out to help me.
However, please still hold back a little when using bad words. Thank you."
He added:
"I really don't care about that 1 person saying it among 100 people. But I don't like that those messages are being mixed with the good messages that you are sending, that's why I'm saying this. I like you, my babies."
