Amid the rumor, EXO, the group to which Lay belongs is reportedly coming back into the K-pop scene as a full group after spring.

On January 1, EXO's leader Suho hinted at their upcoming return to the music scene with the message:

"EXO will make a comeback in 2023."

Following this announcement, EXO-Ls (fandom) expressed their delight on various sns and the group's name immediately rose into real-time trending searches. After all, it is the first time in about two years that the group has announced a comeback, following their special mini-album, "DON'T FIGHT THE FEELING" released in June 2021.

At that time, only seven people, Xiumin, Lay (special appearance), Baekhyun, Kai, D.O., Chanyeol, and Sehun were able to participate in the album since Suho and Chen were still serving at the time.

The comeback is expected to be after spring, since Baekhyun will only be discharged from the military on Feb. 5, after serving as a social worker since May 2021.

Since Lay is currently active in China, there is wide anticipation that the idol will be able to join the comeback.

Aside from this will be a comeback of the full group for the first time after four years since "Don't Mess Up My Tempo" was released in 2018, it's possible that it will also be their last release before Kai and Sehun, both 94-liner, join the military. Thus, fans strongly claim the big possibility of Lay coming back to Korea for the release

Amid the excitement, skepticism concerning other members coexists with Lay's unconfirmed participation in the album. Previously, Chen and Chanyeol among the members were criticized by many fans for their privacy issues regarding pre-marital pregnancy and cheating.
