Third-gen "Nation's Girl Group" TWICE once again cemented their status with this record! Among top-tier female acts in the music scene, the nonet became the first-ever K-pop and Asian group to bag THIS award at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Ceremony.
TWICE Becomes 1st K-pop, Asian Female Group To Be on Billboard Women in Music Awards
On January 31 (KST), "Asia's No.1 Girl Group" TWICE was announced to be the first K-pop female artist to represent and receive an award at the Billboard Women In Music Awards!
According to Billboard's announcement on its official website, TWICE is set to be crowned "Breakthrough Award" at the ceremony, which will be held at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, California on March 1.
This is a huge record for TWICE that will go down the history!
Billboard Women in Music is a large-scale awards ceremony hosted by Billboard that awards the best female artists, creators, producers and executives who have had the biggest impact on the music industry throughout the year.
This ceremony has been going on annually since 2007, and only a few Asian artists were able to break the wall and join the recipients list.
Amid the stardom of fourth-gen girl groups in 2022, TWICE solidified their status as K-pop's representative girl group.
Aside from becoming the first K-pop female artist to win the honor, the nine-member group also became the first Asian group to win the "Breakthrough Award." In general, they became the third Asian female artist to bag the trophy succeeding Olivia Rodrigo and H.E.R.
The "Celebrate" singer joined Fifth Harmony as the second female artist to receive an award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards overall.
In line with this, there are expectations that TWICE will commemorate the special win with a performance at the ceremony, just like other artists who were previous winners.
TWICE Continues To Show Impact on Music Scene With 'MOONLIGHT SUNRISE'
Meanwhile, the year just started but TWICE is already showing their unrivaled influence and impact in the music scene!
On January 20, TWICE released their pre-released English single, "MOONLIGHT SUNRISE."
As of February 1, TWICE ranked 84th on the U.S. Billboard main chart "Hot 100" for February 4 rankings with their first new song in 2023.
As a result, TWICE achieved the chart entry record for the second time since their debut English single, "The Feelings," released in October 2021, and proved unrelenting popularity in their ninth year.
However, this is only the start of the group's reign this 2023 as TWICE will also release a new mini-album in March to expand their global presence.
Congratulations, TWICE!
