In the first episode of Mnet's "Boys Planet," participants expressed their embarrassment after seeing PENTAGON Hui as one of the trainees. During the broadcast, contestants who did THIS also made the idol shed tears.
PENTAGON Hui Joins as Trainee in 'Boys Planet'– How Other Contestants Reacted
On February 2, the cable channel Mnet's new audition program, "Boys Planet" aired for the first time. This show is the male counterpart of "Girls Planet 999," which created the rookie girl group Kep1er.
During the show, 98 trainees were revealed to be joining, and they were divided into two teams; the "K Group" and "G Group." The former were trainees from Korea, while the latter comprised contestants from various countries.
Viewers will become "star creators" and decide the debut group lineup by voting 100%.
On this day, the trainees appeared one by one and greeted each other. The trainees, who continued to admire each other for their handsome height and warm visuals, were surprised to see the last person who appeared.
The last trainee was Hui, who participated under his real name Lee Hoe Taek. The reason participants were shocked was that the trainee is actually an established idol who debuted in 2016 as PENTAGON's leader!
However, Hui didn't introduce himself as an idol, but as a trainee under Cube Entertainment. He said:
"I'm nervous because it's only been a week since I was discharged from the military. [...] I look forward to your kind cooperation."
But upon seeing him, the trainees couldn't hide their embarrassment seeing the idol compete against them despite his position in the music scene.
The trainees can't hide their confused minds and responded, saying:
- "I thought he was a master when I first saw him."
- "I don't know why a well-known person came out."
- "Why is he a trainee?"
The trainees were confused why he is not a master since aside from creating hits such as "Shine" and "Daisy" as a PENTAGON member, he is also a singer-songwriter in his eight-year career with experience enough to work as a composer and producer not only for his group but also create various idol hit songs for other artists.
In fact, he was also the person behind WANNA ONE's hit track, "Energetic."
After the various reactions, Hui left a message to other trainees and said:
"I'm in the same challenger's position (now). I came out with the same vicious spirit as a trainee. I hope you can just beat me without being scared because I am your senior or an older brother."
PENTAGON Hui Sheds Tears After Watching 'Boys Planet' Trainees Perform His Song
On this day then, Japan's Tokyo team from G Group selected PENTAGON's "Shine" and performed it for the level test. This song was composed and written by Hui, which led to the heyday of the group.
As he watched the trainees perform, he shed tears while reminiscing his time with PENTAGON, and conveyed how he felt really grateful as the original singer seeing the participants perform a special song in his heart.
