Sunmi - BE'O Collab: Singer, Rapper To Release New Single
On March 15, Billion Music confirmed that Sunmi and BE'O are collaborating for a new track, slated for release this month!
Titled "Lights Out," the single is a retro funk track co-produced by EL CAPITXN and VENDORS, who both worked on songs for some of the biggest K-pop stars.
The rap lyrics incorporated in "Lights Out" reportedly raises the song's quality, according to the management. The song embodies the sensibility of the 1980s and 1990s, which results to a retro-funk sound.
Representative Kim Jae-ho, CEO of Billion Music, and a member of the producing team VENDORS, said:
"The song was developed with the aim that you will be comforted with. It conveys the story of an empty heart after the colorful lights on the stage are turned off."
"Lights Out" is set to be released on March 22, 6:00 p.m. KST.
Sunmi 2023: Idol's Future Activities, Success As Solo Artist
Sunmi was a Wonder Girls member before pursuing a solo career in 2014. She released her single debut, "Full Moon."
Since then, Sunmi has become one of South Korea's most popular solo artists. Her successful singles include "Gashina," "Heroine," and "Lalalay," which received awards.
Besides her solo career, she also teamed up with known artists like SHINee Taemin, Jooyoung, and Wonho.

Moreover, Sunmi released "Heart Burn" in 2022. From the transition of her 2020 song "Pporappippam," the song was another element that many fans found interesting. It was speculated that "Heart Burn" is a sequel or continuation of the 2020 summer track.
Sunmi performed at the Wavy Baby Music Festival in Cebu last January, alongside The Rose and international artists Pink Sweat$ and Destiny Rogers.
In April, she will headline the Waterbomb Bangkok Festival on April 13, along with CL, ZICO, LOCO, GOT7 Yugyeom, Simon Dominic, and many more.
BE'O 2023: Rapper's Future Activities, Controversy
In February, BE'O's previous manager claimed that the rapper experienced a dramatic change in attitude after becoming well-known from the hit variety program "Show Me The Money."
According to the manager, BE'O forced him to cope with stress, panic attacks, and suicide thoughts. He also disclosed that he picked the "Complex hitmaker" early on in his career after the rapper begged him via email to collaborate. Moreover, the hip-hop rapper released his side explaining about the accusations of the former manager.
"The Brand," sung by BE'O, was allegedly stolen and the actual songwriter was paid undisclosed sum of money to remain silent.
Big Planet Made, the rapper's management company, replied to the accusations by announcing that they would take legal action against any malicious remarks about its artists, including defamation, harassment, personal attacks, and misinformation.
Meanwhile, in the same month, the rapper released his digital single "Akita," with lyrics exuding warmth and depicting watching seasons change while staying the same.
