YG Entertainment has officially introduced their upcoming South Korean girl group, BABYMONSTER. Composed of seven talented members - Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Haram, Rora, and Chiquita - the group is set to debut this year.
BABYMONSTER's Grand Introduction
On December 30, 2022, YG Entertainment revealed a poster with the subtext "YG Next Movement," signaling the septet's formal introduction. This was followed by a short YouTube video on New Year's Day, which quickly gained 15 million views in just three days.
The video featured appearances by members of WINNER and BLACKPINK, sibling duo AKMU, dancer and choreographer Leejung Lee, and label founder Yang Hyun-suk. Alongside the introduction of BABYMONSTER, the announcement of G-Dragon's possible solo return contributed to a significant rise in the label's stocks, peaking at 11.74%.
The seven members were unveiled to the public through a series of live performance videos beginning on January 12. In only 52 days since its creation on December 28, 2022, BABYMONSTER's YouTube channel surpassed one million subscribers, showcasing growth even before their debut.
Public Image and Anticipation
YG Entertainment has crafted a "high-teen" image for BABYMONSTER, distinct from their previous female acts. Nonetheless, the group maintains the signature charismatic elements associated with the label. BABYMONSTER is described as an "all-rounder" group, with each member excelling in vocals, rap, and dance. The public and media have labeled them as "elites," further highlighting their proficiency in various languages, including Korean, English, Japanese, Thai, and Chinese.
As BABYMONSTER continues to gain attention and anticipation, their recent performances in the "Last Evaluation" survival program showcased their talents and potential.
"Last Evaluation" Boosted by BLACKPINK's Jennie
