Jinni's 1st Official Appearance Draws Mixed Reactions – Here's Why
When her photos were uploaded in real-time, she immediately became a hot topic among K-pop fans and web users, especially NSWERs, the fandom of NMIXX.
The initial reactions were mostly positive, praising her visuals and congratulating her for resuming her activity as a soloist under her new agency.
- "Jinni looks so pretty."
- "She can be a pretty face, but she also has a boyish face like Han So Hee and Ryujin."
- "If you will look at her at one glance, she looks like Song Hye Kyo."
- "This is your first official appearance, right? I'm rooting for you re-debut in UAP!"
On April 14, Jinni signed with UAP, and she will be co-managed by Sublime. The latter company announced:
"Jinni recently signed an exclusive contract with UAP, and the company decided to conduct an agency through management MOU collaboration.
We will add generous support to the global performance so that the artist Jinni of UAP can show various potentials. We ask for a lot of support from you for Jinni and UAP, who have started anew."
Amid the positive reviews about her first official appearance, Jinni wasn't able to avoid negative comments from K-pop fans and netizens. People were blaming her as to why NMIXX's popularity wasn't able to rise even more after she left the group. According to them, the team has a lot of potential and emphasized that Jinni could even rise as one of the top idols if she just remained in the team.
In addition to this, people felt betrayed after Jinni left the group without saying the exact reason and even transferred to another company.
Fans left comments such as:
- "If you've been promoting, you'll be one of the top 3 visual members of the 4th generation."
- "But if you're going to continue to work in the entertainment industry, shouldn't you at least reveal the reason for leaving? Those who liked NMIXX got hit in the back of the head."
- "No, you're being selfish because you know you left for some reason. But, all we know is that you left."
- "No matter how much I look at it, I think you quit and came back out because you wanted to be a celebrity, but you didn't want to do NMIXX... Why can't you just be honest? Is it because you don't want to give people a reason to leave?"
- "Don't talk about her. A girl who already left shouldn't come back. The fans already forgot about her."
- "You're so selfish. I wish NMIXX do better."
- "How is it justified to work with the public and not reveal the reason for leaving and to work again in another company? The public isn't a nursing home."
