In particular, GRID Entertainment was founded in May 2023 by a creative group that holds the business of representative K-POP artists at a leading agency in Korea, headed by CEO Shim Hyejin. Its subsidiary label includes 131Label, founded by Kim Hanbin (B.I) in 2018.
As its first artist will be the boy group POW, GRID attested their careful and long preparation from casting to training the idol aspirants before its official launch.
Who Is POW? Members, Concept, Group's Meaning
Ahead of debut, the five members that are expected to show excellent skills and personality beyond rookies were unveiled. The quintet will be comprised of Yorch, Hyunbin, Jungbin, Dongyeon, and Hong.
Among the members, two soon-to-debut members received massive attention as their faces are already familiar to K-pop fans.
One of them is Yorch Yongsin, a Thai actor-turned-all-round artist who has more than 2 million Instagram followers.
Prior to finding his new home, GRID, the trainee is a former member of the pre-debut group, Trainee A, which was formed by Big Hit Music under HYBE. Unfortunately, the team disbanded in December 2022 even before they made their official debut.
The other member who made his name known in the music scene is Yoon Dongyeon (Justine Lajo A.K.A. Dodong) a mixed-race Korean and Filipino.
He's best known for being a JYP Entertainment trainee who joined SBS's "LOUD" in 2021, a survival show organized by J.Y. Park and P NATION's Founder PSY to form new global boy groups.
Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the 7th round and later on, was transferred to Fantagio. He trained under ASTRO's company until he signed with GRID to debut with POW in 2023.
With the combination of the aforementioned trainees, the expectation is high on what kind of synergy will they show as K-pop idols.
Meanwhile, the group's name POW contains the ambition of giving the music industry a fresh and fun experience as if it exploded as the English onomatopoeia word "POW."
The team's official slogan is "CREATING CULTURE EVERYDAY," raising anticipation of how the quintet will create a new culture beyond trends in the global music scene.
