Prior to Lim Young Min's debut as a solo artist, ABNEWs complained about his attempt to come back into the music scene after they recalled the "damage" he did to his former group AB6IX.
Lim Young Min Announces Solo Debut With 1st EP 'ROOM'
On August 14, former AB6IX Lim Young Min announced his return to the music scene after his military enlistment with his first mini-album, "ROOM."
Since then, he has been releasing concept photos and a tracklist from the 17th to the 22nd and dropped his highlight medley on this day (Aug. 24th).

After going through the process of unveiling the music video teaser on the 25th, and the spoiler video on the 28th, Lim Young Min plans to release the album and its music video on August 29.
This will be his first comeback in the K-pop scene three years after his DUI incident and after leaving his group AB6IX.
The pre-order of the album is still ongoing, and the album will be released without any activities.
How Intense the 'Damage' Lim Young Min Did to AB6IX After Drunk-Driving Issue, According to ABNEWs
Meanwhile, the idol, mononymously known as Youngmin, debuted as the leader, lead rapper, and vocalist of AB6IX in 2019. The group was a rising fourth-gen artist. However, in May 2020, he took the car to go home after drinking with his acquaintances. Unfortunately, he was caught by the police and his license was revoked.
He immediately wrote an apology letter and Brand New Music suspended all of his activities on June 5, but because DUI cases are unacceptable in Korea, he eventually left the AB6IX on the 8th of the same month.
Coincidentally, this was also the day that AB6IX's second mini-album, "VIVID," was supposed to be released, but due to the saddening news, it was moved to the 29th.
But moving the date wasn't the only issue.
At the time, the album was 100% completed – from all contents and products related to the release (e.g., physical album, tracks, MVs, marketing content, promotional production, choreography, and costumes).
However, due to Young Min's departure, the agency discarded all of the completed physical albums (real CDs) and re-recorded the music after redistributing parts. The choreography also had to be changed to a four-member version.
In addition to this, his appearance in the music video was minimized and re-edited, and the ABNEW 2nd fan kit was also redesigned and reprinted.
On top of these, the prepared videos and promotional plans also had to be reworked, such as discarding, re-shooting, re-editing, and revising.
Despite the enormous damage he caused to the group and the company, Young Min "ran away" from it by announcing military enlistment in November 2020.
Now, ABNEWs are frustrated that the idol is coming back as if nothing happened, while AB6IX is still being followed by the name of a controversial member.
What makes fans infuriated is when Brand New Music made the mistake of uploading the tracklist of Lim Young Min's second mini album to AB6IX's official account Story on the 22nd. The agency corrected the mistake right away, but the news spread throughout the community.
- "They made a mistake that should never be made."
- "Fans would come out even if he debuted as a soloist, but it's too much."
- "How can you post a teaser of a drunk driving criminal on the group account?"
- "Who are you teasing?"
