6 K-pop Idols Who Trained for 10 Years & Above: G-Dragon, TWICE Jihyo, Billie Moon Sua, More!

While the usual training period an idol has to pass ranges from six months to seven years, some idols experienced more than that and endured for more than a decade.

In the K-pop scene, an idol before their debut has to learn the basics starting from skills and idol etiquette. From morning 'til night, the K-pop training system let them follow a strict and disciplined routine, and it normally lasted for about six months to seven years.

But the following idols showed greater passion and perseverance, their training even lasted for 10 years and more.

Starting when he was 12 years old, soloist G-Soul, best known for his song "Hate Everything," trained under JYP Entertainment for 15 long years!

At the time, he was introduced as a protege, who gained attention in the US and Korea even before his official debut.

While he was training in a foreign country, he was also pursuing his studies. He started training in 2001 and debuted in 2015, but after 2 years, he left JYP and joined H1GHR Music.

Billie Moon Sua (12 Years)

Moon Sua is one of the most legendary trainees under YG Entertainment who trained for 10 years before quitting. She particularly established initial popularity when she joined "Unpretty Rapstar 2" even before her debut.

After leaving YG which became her nest for a decade, she transferred to MYSTIC Story, trained for another two years and debuted as Billie.

BIGBANG G-Dragon (11 Years)

G-Dragon was only 8 years old when he became a trainee under SM Entertainment. He spent five years here, before transferring to YG Entertainment and trained for another 6 years.

Finally, after 11 years, G-Dragon debuted as a member of the boy group BIGBANG, and he would later rise as "King of K-pop."

Starting as a child actress at the age of 5, Aisha became a trainee under JYP Entertainment for 9 years.

Unfortunately, she didn't have her debut here and found her new nest in Yuehua Entertainment.

She trained her for two years before debuting in EVERGLOW.

TWICE Jihyo (10 Years)

When she was only eight years old, Jihyo entered the entertainment scene as a child model and gained initial attention. After trying out for an idol audition, the female idol passed the screening and in 2005, she joined JYP Entertainment.

Initially, her parents think she won't make it since she used to be so timid and shy, but who would have taught Jihyo will even rise as the leader of the "Nation's Girl Group"?

WJSN SeolA (10 Years)

Among WJSN, SeolA has the longest training period of 10 years! She trained for various companies before entering Starship.

She trained under the company for approximately seven years before she officially became an idol through WJSN.
